Janet Jackson's widely mocked stupid opinions are not going to open up a major new vulnerability for Kamala Harris. I love Janet's music but online she is getting universally dragged outside the right wing for this and new polling has shown Trump has not been able to substantially capture the Black vote (as white pundits kept mythologizing), let's keep things in perspective.

I still remember when they said Michael was trying to be white by bleaching. Michael said it was some sort of skin issue.

I'm so disappointed in Penny Woods. Just like many gasped in disappointment as she stole the necklace at the store for Willona.

Michael did indeed have vitiligo. It didn’t really explain why he felt the need to have such extreme plastic surgery though. I do try to show grace since both Michael and Janet did express how, at times, their looks were attacked by other family members (Janet even admitted that, as much as she loved Michael, he also was among those that taunted her about the size of her rear end, which was likely one of the aspects that set her on a path to equating her value with her weight).

The family was also raised as Jehovah’s Witnesses, which, although they definitely had a lower and higher hierarchy, tried to present an idealized version of humanity with no identity other than being members of Kingdom Hall and the supposedly small number people headed for paradise. JW don’t vote, so who knows whether she will even bother to cast her vote, one way or the other. Someone who might not even vote, why are we asking for their political views?

Those are two separate issues afaic. She can still be relevant as an entertainer (every Superbowl her name trends) but it doesn’t mean we want her advice on political issues. There are some artists and entertainers for whom there will always be interest in the broad expanse of their views, while others…

I actually think the questions being asked these days also lack depth, but that’s another story.

Relevant or not, she is JANET JACKSON. She is a legend, an icon. No denying that. She has changed music and dance. And I will forever love her. The fact that she hasn't had a hit in years doesn't change that... SHE IS JANET JACKSON. That's exactly why I'm so disturbed by how she's dealt with this fiasco. People should stop acting like she is this locked in a closet naive girl who doesn't know what is going on in the world. She chose to repeat this. Her denying the apology is making the situation even stranger, even though I am not denying her right to say -I Have not apologized. If she feels like it - OK. BUT - People are taking this as confirmation that she is not sorry for repeating Trump's lies. That's the reality. Just because I love her as an artist, doesn't mean I am going to let this go by without reacting to it with my whole being. This election is probably the most important in our lifetimes. It's important to the whole world. This is not the moment to act like... Oh, I heard that her father was... (I will not repeat it). Kamala Harris is not someone who's identity should be doubted and or misrepresented. EVER.

It's a huge misstep for Janet and I hope to God she realizes how bad it is and releases some KIND of statement. We don't need a crying video with an apology - just a simple - I now... KNOW.

    • At this point Y&R's next step is to go fully green screen and have the actors Zoom from home.
    • I was just taking about this in the Y&R thread - they desperately need better studio space.

    • Hopefully they can expand some of the sets again. I watched some 04/05 episodes and forgot how much more grand the production used to feel. I wonder if YR will be staying put or going there or somewhere else as well.
    • DAYS posted the recipe! https://www.instagram.com/p/DKiMVZvuZje/ dayspeacock June 5, 2025 Tomorrow is National Donut Day! Here’s Alice Horton’s famous recipe! #NationalDonutDay #Donuts #Recipe #DOOL #Days #Daysofourlives #TBT Ingredients: 2 eggs 1 cup of sugar 1 cup of milk 5 tablespoons melted shortening 1-teaspoon vanilla extract 4 cups all-purpose flour, sifted before measuring 4 teaspoons baking powder ½ teaspoon salt 1 stick butter, melted Cinnamon Sugar In a large bowl, beat the eggs until foamy. Gradually add sugar, beating constantly. Stir in milk, shortening and vanilla. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add to the wet ingredients, mixing well. Cover and chill the dough for 30 minutes to one hour for easier handling. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Spray baking sheet with vegetable cooking spray. Roll out or pat the dough on a lightly floured board to a half inch thickness. Cut with a doughnut cutter. Place the doughnuts and holes on the baking sheet, one inch apart. Bake for 10 – 15 minutes or until golden brown. Brush each doughnut and doughnut holes with melted butter and roll in Cinnamon Sugar to coat all sides. Makes about 36 doughnuts. Cinnamon Sugar: 1 cup of sugar 1 teaspoon of cinnamon In a small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon, blending well.
    • "Jordan and Robert have the best brother chemistry. " They certainly did!  And that chemistry worked no matter who served as the protagonist in a given scene or story.  A shame that a full-blown story was never developed for those two.  Wouldn't have needed to be adversarial, either.  Maybe a serious, unexpected, long-term outside threat, business or personal, to one of the brothers with the other coming to his aid.

I was able to find most of them. I am not sure if you did 1974-1977 but I did not find it in the 70s thread. This is an amazing resource for EVERY soap.  1973 https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/41800-ratings-from-the-70s/page/78/#comments 1973 more research https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/41800-ratings-from-the-70s/page/80/#comments 1973 Update https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/41800-ratings-from-the-70s/page/82/#comments 1978 https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/50145-ratings-from-the-80s/page/135/#comments 1979-1988 https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/50145-ratings-from-the-80s/page/115/#comments 1989  https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/50145-ratings-from-the-80s/page/122/#comment-1876530 1990-1999  https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/58300-ratings-from-the-90s/page/11/#comments 2000-2004  https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/58300-ratings-from-the-90s/page/58/#comments
    • Mrs. H used the donuts to distract from the expensive jewels that she hid in the walls of her kitchen.  Now, it all makes sense...

I thought a smart cookie like Caroline Brady would've had the chance to hide a bauble of her own from her dalliance with Victor.
