I'm surprised that Generations had seemingly a lot of station coverage (for a while at least) in those best-rated weeks post. I just assumed it might've been off to a bad clearance start due to NBC being so spotty in that timeslot over the years.

And yikes. Ryan's Hope is now just looking pitiful.

Good Grief! Look at DAYS - 4 consecutive weeks 6.2, 6.6, 7.4, 8.1   what a ride!

+1... and pulling way ahead of the AMC/OLTL/ATWT crowd during the holiday high.  Plus GL back in the mid 6's.  Let's see what downfall 1989 will bring...

What to watch for in 1989.

Y&R dominates. The two big storylines that set everything in motion for the 1990s were Victor taking over Jabot and Phillip III car accident. 1989 the big cast departure was Terry Lester.

B&B Darlene Conley arrival and not long after B&B will start showing growth.

As the World Turns Martha Byrne and Hillary Bailey Smith departures.

Guiding Light Michael Zaslow returns. Robert Calhoun becomes EP. Debuts of Jean Carol, Morgan Englund, Kimberley Simms, Sherry Stringfield, Beth Chamberlin.

Ryan's Hope ends.

Generations premieres.

Heather Rattray debuts as Lily.

IMO HBS departure was a huge blow for ATWT.

Ellen Dolan takes over the role of Margo Hughes.

Dang, what happens to DAYS in the first half of '89?  Looking at the ratings on your page that begin in August '89, they're suddenly down in the low 5's.

ATWT doing well starting 1989.

GL finally showing some life.

BB showing some movement in their numbers.

The battle for the top spots was real....AMC dropping to #7 during one week of ratings.

Once again thanks @JAS0N47 for the 1989 never before seen ratings.

ATWT:

February is Meg and Josh wedding. Jennifer Ashe and William Fichtner leave the show.

March: James great escape with Paul. The beautifully shot remote in NY.

My little engine that could AW still hanging in there 😂😂

Too bad nothing really helped in the ratings. I thought those first few months of 1989 were brilliant
