Interesting group filming today.

Which doesn't surprise me. The relaxed shooting schedule, the rehearsal, the better direction by the producers & the director, the better writing perhaps, can bring on miracles. Daytime can be a very harsh environment unless you're very talented & willing to bring it (which is why consistently great performers on daytime will always have my undying respect). Clearly BM is not willing to bring it.

I think that there are few good actors on the soaps. The few that there are all develop bad tics and get lazy playing the same character doing ridiculous things for years.

We're talking about two different things. You enjoy him so naturally you must think he's good. But I'm talking about an objective evaluation of his acting. That has nothing to do with personal opinion of him. I think BM's very good looking and charismatic, and I enjoyed his work on primetime. Do I think he's objectively good or even great? Nope. He's an OK actor. Because good acting skills are really not a matter of opinion.

And, may I just...

they look great...

makes me wonder about February sweeps

Preparation for Neil and Leslie's wedding maybe...or that Chelsea by Jabot launch.

There's also

the fallout with Adam

True. But would Neil, Devon, Leslie be involved with that? I see everyone else's connection though.

Temp are for when people are sick, have family emergencies, and are on maternity leave. Why should they have brought in a temp so some actor could go on auditions and tape other projects?

Not 100% true. The bottom line is you can't pin a bad storyline on a character not being there. That lays on the writers shoulders. The bottom line is Billy was on more than most of the characters last year so they he was involved in storylines when he needed to be.

Well, unless you are having a discussion with a bunch of acting coaches, it's all going to be subjective on a message board. It's not like acting is a hard science where we can measure someones skills. Plus even people who have expertise in acting will disagree on who is good or "the best". Do we all have to post our credentials to judge acting on a message board (I took a few acting classes in college, does that count?), lest some other poster comes along and tries to act like our opinions are invalid because we are not objective, but their judgements (inevitably) are? That will get old fast.

Question: do you think BMs absence affected the story in any way? Are you saying his absences had zero affect?
