Now i know why GH dropped this week besides obvious reasons ...the writing is awful....Robin begging Sabrina to help her save her marriage is beyond stupid....and Patrick not having the balls to choose Robin...he was going to back off of the wedding the day before...lol....Maxie telling dufus that he could take their kid and leave...and the whole nonsense with the OLTL castoffs on once again....

Robin returning was the big draw with vets also shown. Yes the ratings were going to drop. They were too high not too but the writing didn't help one bit. I am sure Jason was grinning his teeth when he had those scenes with Epiphany about his crap love for Sabrina. Robin just looked dumb talking with Sabrina. She looked like a sap.....I dont care for the OLTL castoffs on GH....they need to go.....and Maxie and Robin's heads must have shrunk while at that gravesite......dumb...dumb...dumb.....Ron has a lot of pieces(vet actors) but cant write a story to its fulliest potential....shame....the soap could soar even higher in the ratings....

GH is still doing well it was bound to drop after robins big reveal. Still number 1 in demos and over 3 million is excellent. GH had a great year highest ratings since 2006. Chit happens again okay it's horrible sucks great then why do I watch? I would never waste my time on programming that I think is horrible. I do something more useful with my time that makes me happy. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.

I have to say i enjoy the current GH very much. It is much more true to old school GH than it was the whole last decade. Is it perfect? No! Some episodes are bad. But overall I have seen so much worse. The biggest problem is the big cast, but we discussed that before. I'm happy that all the vets are back and get some focus. And there is always something going on that has me excited.

The same could be said with other soaps on the board. Not everyone likes the direction Days has taken (raises hand... lol) but there are also people miffed with Y&R and B&B. Dissent is a healthy thing, it's part of what makes this country great.

I thought GH's ratings would drop from last week, but last week was so damn flawless...

There's one thing to u know give the shows hey u like these parts of it but they could improve but still I watch it because I enjoy it. Watching a show I despise and call abhorring and putrid makes no sense. I would not want to watch something makes me so upset.

You have a point. I remember stop watching GH in 2009, the show I so much love, because I could not deal with it anymore. It was just not GH anymore.

On the other hand soaps are a daily routine and people stick with it even if they hate what they see, it is normal. And sometimes ChipHappens says something positiv about the show, it just does not happen very often;)))))

CH says quite a few positive things about the show, and keeps an open mind.

If people are happy with the show's ratings, that's great, but others won't feel that way. And the poster in question isn't even one of the more negative people about GH. I should know, as I'm one of the more negative people.

    • I hope this played better than it sounds, because I'm imagining two separate scenes (the attack by Arnie, and later Charles getting shot). In my mind, it should have been a fluid single sequence. I wonder if or how often "bastard" was uttered in this scene. Fare thee well, Christopher Reeve. I've said it before, but pop culture's gain was daytime's definite loss. Imagine seeing HIM day after day, year after year, decade after decade, conceivably until they stopped producing soaps in NYC.   Well, that answers my "bastard" question. Good lord, the roads of Rosehill are packed with high-strung drivers and/or pedestrians. More sequences that I hope played better than they sound.

    • I think Ben had already left while under Marland and only returned briefly to reconcile with Eve. The whole thing confuses me as I thought for a long time that Eve left the show to go be with him and that was when they reconciled, but it seems like he returned, they got back together, then he left and maybe they were still together until she left to join him? I have no idea.  It does seem like the interim writers were using some characters like Justin and Helena who were quickly dumped under Kobe/Long, which is a shame. Helena is one of those characters who likely always had a shelf life but Rose Alaio was such a vibrant screen presence, if Kobe/Long had just been patient, she likely would have fit in well in the Reva era.
    • Also, the lawsuit story was not the right story to bring Naomi and Bill into a court battle since those types of lawsuits are usually resolved via settlements.
    • I know that Sara did eventually become Carrie's therapist, but I was curious if the show had her make comments regarding Carrie's stunts of making it seem as though Justin was cheating on Jackie.  Given that Justin cheated on Sara with both Jackie and Brandy, I wondered if it was wise of her to counsel Carrie given the conflict of interest involved. @DRW50I think once Adam/Sara end up married.. Marland didn't see any reason to explore Sara's personal life after the actor playing Adam was released.  I know that Sara lasts until at least Christmas 1982 on the show.. but I don't think she ended up staying on for very long into 1983. The period between Marland quitting and Pam Long starting was the perfect time to clean house on characters that had outgrown their usefulness  (i.e. Ben, Evie, Sara, Jennifer, Morgan).. and tying up stories started by Marland that were too complex (Mona Enright, Mark/Jennifer/Amanda triangle).
    • Unpopular opinion:  The focus on the soap opera tropes over the mysteries and crimes was partly what did the show in.  Also, featuring characters not involved in the legal, police, and criminal elements also hurt the show and took away what made it unique. Featuring characters like Jody, Raven, Sky, etc hurt the show long term.  The show ABCified starting in 1976/1977 and then went through a youthification period starting in 1981.
    • I feel like the lawsuit storyline was resolved quickly because the show didn’t want to spring for more sets.
    • It's been a while, but we have seen the foyer to Bill and Hayley's house as well as the exterior entrance to their house. The foyer was first seen in the premiere episode when Hayley met Vanessa at the house.
    • There's still a year or two before Larkin arrives. Joel is there already. EON does noticeably youthify, although I think they carry it off. Admittedly I haven't seen most of the Jody stories, which from what people here have said aren't great.
