Isn't 40 to 80 what they just did and it didn't work? I'm not sure what the final number of episodes where for OLTL, but it doesn't seem like there were that many to start with.

I don't think the amount of episodes was the problem, but the lack of a clear plan. They just need to decide how many episodes they can film, follow through with a season thats plotted for that amount of episodes with a beginning, middle and end. They also need to decide how these are going to air online, so they can write cliffhangers accordingly. At this point they've seen the pros and cons of the various models and need to stick with something. If the shows are a big success, THEN you can make the decision to start writing and extend the season or begin on the third season.

CORRECT. The issue I found was that they were writing for 168 episodes and they just got cut off. Once they say we are gonna do x number this year. Stick to that. Then the writers can plot out & write the stories and beats. Then decide how to best release the shows so it has the maximum effect on the audience.

I don't think they should call it telenovella, but they should always start smaller and go from there. Use it like a cable model. Decide how many episodes for each season (40-80 would be good IMO), then film the entire season for both shows and THEN release and promote both at the same time.

A couple of months ago, Hulu e-mailed to their subscribers if they would like the fans to have twenty episodic long seasons for both AMC and OLTL since PP was considering that for both the shows' next seasons, and Robin Strasser tweeted on her twitter account last month that both AMC and OLTL will both have twenty episodes for their second seasons.

when did RS tweet that both AMC & OLTL with have 20 episode 2nd seasons???

I could deal with 20 episodes if they did 20 episodes each, then came back for another 20 say 3-6 months later. I think if they do a format like that, then they may as well make them hour long shows and model them after primetime.

Frankly, I'm going to deal with whatever they give me. I decided a long time ago to take each and every new episode as a gift. I understand that not everyone can see it that way, but that's the only way I can look at it.
