I think Miranda would be more like Erica. I think Erica being gone leaves a void in Miranda's life similar to Eric being away from Erica's life causing a generation cycle of Abandonment issues. Erica left for a career in show business like Eric so there is definitely a parallel. And Bianca being away is certainly leaving a mark on Miranda. I wonder if they could Explore the Kanes some more?? Maybe Erica has Cousins she never knew about?? If there really is an abandonment Cycle maybe on of Eric's parents left and had other kids? Anyway, this could really act as a springboard for Erica stories. This cold have her come to the realization that she needs to let go of her Ego and really Evolve. I would like this to trigger a life crisis for Erica and have her attend a HS reunion and talk to people like Tara and Chuck. She could tell about Kendall and they could say They always knew something was up around that time and they had the decency not to say anything. They could even go as far as saying the reason why they put up with Erica's foolishness so much is because they learned about Kendall and they didn't want to hurt Erica so they appeased her (for the most part). I would also like for Erica to have a Cancer scare as a way to connect with Mona spiritually. Having the Kanes by her side would also strengthen there bond. Mostly, I would like Erica's family to be a real strong hold. Why not introduce cousins she never knew about? Maybe Jane is one of them?? Just food for thought! It makes me wonder how much Erica's been gone and what her relationship has been like with Miranda. I'd love to see Erica help Miranda cope with life in general. I always thought a breast cancer or some other type of cancer story for Erica at this point in her life would make sense because Mona had cancer too, and it would have presented Erica a chance to confront her own mortality and deal with the idea of cancer making her less physically attractive, without the camp factor of a damn Phantom of the Opera mask. Although, Fra Heflin was diagnosed with cancer in real life right after Mona's cancer storyline, and I remember reading something somewhere back then that it freaked Susan out and she was superstitious about that sort of thing, so who knows. Maybe she didn't want to do a story like that? I'd love to see Opal get worried about Pete doing business with David and calling up her best gal pal and asking Erica if she'd be willing to step into Cortlandt with Opal's power of attorney, managing Opal's stake in the business (which I assume she has - it'd be an easy enough retcon to say she owns part of CE). It would put Erica right in the middle between David and Pete, with Erica being sympathetic about David having lost Marissa and understanding why he shot JR (she went after him in the hospital once but Jeff Martin pulled her back), but also feeling like she needed to stand up for Pete for Opal's sake. Plus it would put Erica and Brooke on opposing sides in business, with Brooke working with Erica's ex-husband. I think there's a LOT of potential there. When AMC was wrapping up on ABC, Jane as Erica had bought Pine Valley Hospital from Greenlee and brought David in as a business partner. When Erica was freed and confronted David about it, he told her if she tried to undo the sale, she'd never know who he'd saved. As far as we saw on the air, Erica still owned PVH when she and Jack broke up. Obviously David no longer has a stake in the hospital - if he did he'd have thrown that in Joe's face over the issue of using the device at PVH. I do have to wonder if Erica still owns it in part or if she sold it off. She hasn't been mentioned as an owner, so I'm assuming she did sell it. Still, if they wanted to give her a different career path, they could let her be the owner and have her decide that she wants to be more actively involved there. IDK what she'd do there, but I'm just throwing it out as a suggestion. I would have loved to see Erica take over running her friend Olga's modeling agency because it would have been a natural "glamorous" place for the younger cast to work as interns, models, etc. and it would lend itself to cross promotion with real fashion labels, magazines, etc. I'd still be open to this option if they can convince Susan to come back. Plus with a Chandler Media division up and running and Dimitri running it, Erica running a modeling agency could possibly give them a reason to interact professionally. She could be there to reflect on her life plus maybe promote a new book or project she's been working on or something? I'd LOVE to see Erica not on her top game for this, appearing high strung/antsy/nervous during the whole thing. She's off the wagon or back on pills, and Dimitri being the EP of the show & circling around Brooke's orbit doesn't help matters for her sanity. Wendy did not ask about AMC returning, and it wasn't mentioned at all that the show is even back. Susan was asked about letting go of Erica, and she said something about how Erica wasn't really gone because she lived on in the hearts of fans, etc. This was the first time I saw an interview of hers post-2011 and thought, "Yeah, she's really done, and if she's goes back it's going to be because she's run out of other options."
