Also, I loved the glimpses of the original Miranda (then called affecitonalty Mimo in the online community). Those little Cartigiano twins stile the scene, almost as much as little Hayley Evans did as the infant Miranda. I wonder if the scrapbook Bianca was looking through was meant to be the gift Myrtle gave her when she first left for Paris:

I could care less about Cassadra, and this is a bad thing. She is so islanded off as a character. It's a new portrayer and relatively new character, so I have had no time to build sympathy or an emotional attachement to her. Frankly, she can go home to Paris tomorrow and I would not care.

Angie's psych scenes were very powerful. Debbi works great, even she is alone. I wish we could have seen Dr. Joe explain to Angie what Jesse had explained to him earlier. That would have made the narrative made more sense. It also would have built on the Joe/Angie friendship which has existed since they were neighbors and co-workers 30 years ago.

I loved how Opal looked in Petey's apartment. Her coloring and the outfit really worked. Too bad she and Sam did not work out. But, I cannot say that there is anyone on canvas now that I want to see her with. She was perfect for Palmer because of the dramatic foil it created. Opal deserved the best, and for years Palmer was the best. I know a lot of people are talking about Dimitri/Opal, but I would hate Erica to retaliate like she did to Carmen when she pursued Jackson. I also think BCT would be a step down for Opal, and de-evoluiton of the character. Someone like a Woodruf Greenlee or Barry Shire would be much more up Opal's ally.

I am ready for more focus on the David/Cara/baby storyline and for others who have been backburned. Time to give the Hubbard family a little break here and there. and that would be ok with me (for a few minutes only).

I am happy Cara is out of David's orbit for now. I am actually liking the character with JR. It seems like David would be "end-game" as Cara and he share a picture in the opening. I would love to see Cara try to impose herself as the new Chandler woman of the mansion, and conflict with AJ and Brooke who have come to a certain understanding on how life should be at the mansion. I bet Brooke harbors some resentment for Cara as well for how quickly she turned on Tad and the Martins once David entered her orbit. Brooke has always been an extended part of the Martin family. Cara was not particularly nice to them, Dixie included, at the end of the ABC run.

I'm with you- I get why they might have done it- good way to make it more likely that both eps get watched. But it sucks to watch both and have nothing and its hard to space out when you know the other ep is there. Watching both shows helps some but I've always watched both. I don't think there's anything wrong with wishing for more shows- most of us probably do--and its not the same as the FB people demanding for 5 hour long shows "on tv for free" who don't seem to understand that this is a business venture

Yes, the loyal FB fans and fans on other sites want their AMC back at 5 days a week 1 hour like the other soaps on network television right now. I would be satisfied with a business model like B&B at 30 minutes 5 days a week.

AMC directly addressing real life politics...PRAISE BLACK AGNES!

I liked the fact that Angie got some therapy. She needs it and it served the story by giving us her viewpoint without making us watch her inflict it on Cassandra. That would've been tough for me to stomach. When Angie told Cass that her stress was bad for the baby, I thought, "So is heroin, Angie. You know, that stuff your daughter's rapist pumped into her veins?" All that said, I'm now going to commit blasphemy and say I need this to be the end of weeping, wailing Angie. Debbi tearing these scenes up but I'm ready for both Angie and Cass to shift to another stage of dealing with this. Cass is thankfully past the physical part of her withdrawal so we're getting some insight into her feelings. I'm ready for more pissed off Angie.

I'm really appreciating that they are letting Cass say how much she hates this "thing" growing inside her. AMC is filled with children of rape who turned out to be big happy "blessings" it's time to acknowledge the opposite.

I like the fact that Jesse is finally owning some of the things he did wrong re: Zach/Uri. If this was ABC we'd have had to suffer through WEEKS of furtive looks and suspicious glances with Jesse insisting he did the right thing. The ABC model of the hero never let men take responsibility for screwing up. Be it Ryan or Zach or Jesse with the Ellie/Lucy mess, bad behavior is always excused because he had a "good reason" and the perpetrator of that behavior never truly owns up to it. Jesse knows he fucked up his job and he's owning it. Let's see if he does the same with his marriage. I also liked that they had Jesse trying to reach Tad before confessing to Joe. Of course Jesse would reach out for his friend.

Having been married for over 40 years now, forgiveness is always doable. There is no perfect husband and there is no perfect wife. It is called unconditional love, for better or for worse. The vows spoken. We would have never made these 40 years without the forgiveness part. We forgive ourselves and each other constantly. and we let alot roll off our backs and we always look at the bigger picture and we STAY TOGETHER. We are more down to earth and grounded and I think at the end of the day, Jesse and Angie can be that way with themselves, each other and also continue to set a good example to their children and their children's children. People wimp out too much these days and separate and divorce and are liars to their own vows spoken.

Celia and Evelyn should just go away. They are a plot point which I am not invested in the least (even with the amazing Francesca James in the role). They could easily fade away and I would not care in the slightest.

How about Colby and Cass competing for Petey's affection? They were teenage friends? There is more of a relationship to pull from there.

Celia and her portrayer are just blah. I have not seen her come into her own and it has been weeks. I don't even care who is taunting her or who her benefactor is. The worst part, is that she is strapped down in scenes with characters I actually care about (Dimitri, Brooke, Colby).

If Dimitri is in fact the benefacter, and they are just looking for him to have more relaitons on canvas, why don't they just bring in someone from his past that we do care about? How about Anton out of Med School to steam-up the hospital scene. He would be around Dixie's age group and can be a potential love interest. Or even Maddie Grey, still traumatized from her father's death, Dimitri can try to be the father figure that he once desired to be and shape the impressionable girl in his own dark image. Imagine a young girl holding court as the Countess of Wildwind. That is a gothic story I want to see.

I think Cass is a long, long way away from being interested in pursuing any man. :/ IDK how they bring this once virginal character to a point where she'd be interested in a relationship after everything that happened to her.

Anton is between Dixie and JR in age, but with SORASing, IDK that it really matters. I would love to see Anton back, but I wouldn't want to saddle anyone with Dixe. That's just mean. I'd be interested in Anton and Cara. David and Dimitri have a fairly complicated past, so could you imagine Dimitri's son falling for the mother of David's son? That could be fun to watch.

The last incarnation of Maddie Gray was so shrill and snotty and obnoxious that I'm hesitant to want her back, especially because it would likely be a matter of time before St. Maria of Wildwind and her infamous push-up bra return. I have no desire to see her back. That said, if Maria had to be around, I thought it would have been interesting to see Maddie as a model at Enchantment, working with Erica and wanting to be like her, not realizing that Erica had initially raised her as a baby, with Maria hating that interaction the whole time.

I'd also be fine with Dimitri and Alex having had a child off screen who is now a teenager or college-age kid.

Also, I loved the glimpses of the original Miranda (then called affecitonalty Mimo in the online community). Those little Cartigiano twins stile the scene, almost as much as little Hayley Evans did as the infant Miranda.

To this day, the Cartigiano twins are among my favorite soap babies. They lit up every scene they were in and completely ruled some of the actors. One of them clearly loved Thorsten Kaye like he was Barney the Dinosaur. I wonder what those boys are up to these days.

My favorite AMC babies will forever and always be those cute little girl twins that played Sam Grey. I was sad when they got too big to convincingly play a boy and were replaced. The little Mirandas were all very cute though as was the first Kate-Kathy.

It'll take a long time, a lot of thoughtful writing and a very good actor playing the love interest but it can be done.

Well, I've only seen Episode 40 so far so I'll briefly comment on that alone right now.

From start to finish, it was a beautifully constructed episode!

I wondered whether the emotion might be too heavy for some but for me, I found it a throwback to when daytime dramas set a specific mood for that entire episode (or the first half of an episode) and moved the viewer deeply. It wasn't too much for me, I fell for it--hook, line and sinker!

The juxtaposition between Angie and Cass and Bianca and Miranda was a master stroke. One one side, the emotion was wrenching, on the other side, quietly poignant. Each powerful in its own way.

The reckoning of Jesse's involvement of the coverup was so well done. I loved how AMC is utilizing Dr. Martin. It makes me hopeful that we'll see more Martins sometime down the line but Dr. Joe reminds me of Bob Hughes on ATWT. I feel comforted by his sage presence. He's a moral compass without being judgemental or preachy. I loved his talk with Jesse.

On a Technical note, the Dissolve between Jesse's scene with Joe and his arrest in front of Angela is the way that you denote the Passage of Time (is anyone at Y&R watching-- this is how you do it Y&R people!!)happy.png

The scenes between Lea and Zach had surprising range, from quiet tenderness and acceptance all the way to Zach, feeling betrayed by Lea's confession of secretly investigating Jesse (I saw this coming but the revelation was well done, none the less-- I was write about Lea being a 'by the book' kind of person) showed the range and escalation of complications in that budding relationship. Perhaps, it will now be over before it began for these two.

Even the AJ and Miranda scenes were nicely done. No overwrought emotional angst. The sweetness of two incredibly close bosom buds sharing some summertime bliss. And that overhead scene where they were on the sofa and Miranda, without even thinking, props her feet comfortably on AJ's lap. It said so much without words.

I hope the next episode can come close to this one (which I'm not expecting, honestly).

Everyone was ON THEIR GAME!

Good stuff. Episodes like this, is how I became a soap fan.wub.png

I said in last week's thread that I wanted Stuart to come back for that reason but Dr. Joe is filling the role of father/confessor quite nicely.

Yes! Another set of scene stealers were the original Sam girls, and the original Maddie boys!

The online Amc seems to me be vastly better then the online oltl. I find it more harking back to the old days. It's crazy cause Amc stunk when it went off the air and oltl was better on abc last years. It's been reversed. With Lisa and chip as new co head writers it will help.

I will be glad when Petey and Opal learn that the person who purchased Courtlandt Manor is Billy Clyde Tuggle!
