You know, it's quite possible 1) Rich and Jeff and everyone else at PP doesn't actually watch these shows, and 2) they're only now finding out "through the grapevine," so to speak, all the [!@#$%^&*] Frank and Ron did with these characters while they weren't paying close attention? Just a thought.

Definitely They obviously were very busy the past year making this work, and I doubt regular soap viewers anyway even of the shows they bought--why would they bother watching GH? Although Hope and Cole dying off so quickly seems like something they shoulda realized.

Rading the whole legal notice is hysterical--it does sound like a fangirl wrote it (they even say Soapocalypse!) but it kinda made me smile--as stupid as this all is--with how passionate about the whole thing it made them sound.

The Irna law suite against WGA (Never read it) came to mind along with the issues she had with AW going on NBC causing all ATWT references to be deleted. This mainly reminds me of several class soap legends nobody outside the soapasphere knows about!! I don't think we had anything this juicy since the Santa Barbara incident, Ironically SB was co-created by the daughter of the creators of GH.

I knew Irna had to drop the ATWT references due to another network (ironic since she later had that very long lasting/permanent GL/AW crossover) but not that she sued about it. Interesting...

Chit can write the counter-claim.

The language is ridiculous, but it seems like they have something to back it up.

I don't understand why Jamey and Bibel keep insisting it's just a matter of writing around it. Sure, they can write around it but that's not the point - the point is that according to PP's claim, GH took the OLTL [!@#$%^&*] and did whatever they wanted because they decided they were the Man, PP would never return, and they assumed that the world of daytime was so insular and tiny that as long as Daytime Confidential and the same old reporters, pundits, bloggers, etc. kept varnishing their thrones no one else would ever dare lay a real glove on them or challenge their claim to their sacred inheritance. After all, didn't you listen to their last podcast? They said it, Ron is the best writer in soaps!

Once they learned Cope were dead, simple..order FRon to resurrect them. Desperate [!@#$%^&*]! This is about the 3!

lol. Why are you singling me out?

You know, reading everything in regards to the lawsuit, it occurs to me: aren't you AMC fans glad, in retrospect, how GH never tried incorporating any Pine Valley characters into their show? smile.png

That's why I'm curious if there was ever any rights issues about past characters, like Skye. I'm thinking no, and she counts as aGH character, but...

I wonder when ABC was meant to start airing these ads--next week?

lol. Why are you singling me out?

Because you are just about as over the top and vitriolic as the actual claim.

Plus what was said, it wasn't until ABC said they were going to take back the rights this year that PP suddenly decided they wanted to put these shows online lol. it was like a fire was lit under their arses

That's a skewed perspective. They always knew when they were losing the soaps, and obviously they spent a lot of time last year trying to work a feasible way to do them.

He is. But that isn't saying much.

Wait...so part of the claim is the characters were OOC?

Lawd. Starr was still stupid and homely. Todd separated a child from his mother (let the record show that this is not new territory for Todd) in between doing stand up. And John was still filthy and unshaven with a hero complex.

What in the sam hell was OOC?

Oh, please! lol. I am not over the top. I am just detailing why this is beyond ridiculous!

They failed!

They have the rights to both shows for 10 years after the contract date. They had until Feb 2013 to get OL going or lose the characters, no? Those are 2 different things!

PP has 10 years to get this right, so they can fail as many times as they want. I say that's a pretty good deal because it looks like they are going to need all 10 damn years!

First, If they failed:

Wouldn't EXIST!!!

Second, that last comment is going to get you checked

I do agree that part was ridiculous. But I think their claim does make a good cass for a lot of this being done out of a backhanded mean spiritedness.

Actually, I did not phrase what I said earlier correctly. What I mean is that this reminds me of a lot of Irna's cases and other juicy stories. I don't know if there was a court case involving AW/GL or not BUT this does seem similar. That said, there could have been one.

This entire discussion is making my head spin!!

After this ABC will never sell GH to PP probably to a shoe perhaps. I would like to see the original PP/ABC Contracts
