Kicking off its 50th anniversary celebration, General Hospital delivered its most-watched week in one-and-a-half years in Women 25-54 (918,000/1.5 rating since 9/26/11), ranking a solid #2 for the week in the demo, and posting a 6-week high in Total Viewers (2.79 million since week of 2/18/13) and 5-week high in Women 18-49 (660,000/1.0 rating since week of 2/25/13).

General Hospital registered solid double-digit percent increases year to year across target demos, including by 25% in Total Viewers (2.79 million vs. 2.24 million), by 23% in Women 18-49 (660,000 vs. 538,000) and by 27% in Women 25-54 (918,000 vs. 722,000).

Fridays kick-off of the Nurses Ball ranked as the series most-watched telecast in 6 weeks in Women 18-49 (718,000/1.1 rating since 2/18/13).

On ABC.com, the anniversary week amassed 2.1 million page views, up by a massive 77% over the prior two weeks.

On Twitter, General Hospital was the weeks #5 most-tweeted TV series, accumulating 114,000 tweets between social activity on ABC and SOAPnet.

Congrats to GH.. I returned to GH when the OLTL 3 came on. I didn't think I would like GH since I hadn't watched in years, but to my surprise, I'm enjoying the stories with the returning Vets and the newbies. Not all the stories are good, but they are watchable unlike Days imo.

I was hoping Days would at least stay steady, but the low ratings is deserved. Days sucks right now..

DAYS IMO should axe Gary tomlin and promote Lorraine Broderick as co head writer. His stuff is very very hit and miss for me. DAYS needs writing changes.

For the first time in 2013, GH gains viewers two weeks straight. This was also the first time all of GH's gains came from 18-49 demo.

But, color me shocked GH didn't break 3 million for their heavily promoted anniversary or start of the Nurses Ball. This is a measly gain after so much media attention.

GH scored 3 million in February and December so there are more lapsed, potential viewers out there to be had.

I did expect a bigger rise too. But oh well. I should have realized that many viewers who would be attracted by such promotion, would probably be time-shift viewers who would tape the shows to watch later, such as the weekend, so probably aren't counted in Live+SD ratings. Hardcore people who would rush to watch the same day would already know about the anniversary and would probably already have come back to start watching. Also the 20/20 special did not air until the weekend after the start of the Nurses Ball.

I do think in years past though, I don't remember an anniversary week making a huge blip in the ratings for any show, so even though I would have wanted GH to break 3 million, just staying solid, and growing week to week and year to year, is still a good sign to me.

Congrats to GH! I agree - I was hoping to see a bigger bump for the anniversary week, but any bump is a good one and I'm really hoping to see them maintain those numbers for the week of the Nurse's Ball.. They deserve every bump in numbers they get for the amazing past few weeks of episodes they have been putting out.

On the other hand, DAYS completely deserves these ratings. A 1.6 on one day.. that's horrible, yet well deserved (especially when the show has proven that it can maintain a 2.0 all week when it is well written).. WAY too much emphasis on Chloe/Daniel/Jenn, who appeared in.. all 5 episodes that week right? Oh wait. And all five episodes the week before.. and all 5 episodes this week as well. Hmm..
