Ruth Prawer Jhabvala, Oscar-winning screenwriter for "A Room With a View" and "Howards End" has died, 85 years old.

"Howards End" will always have a special place in my heart. Through that movie I discovered one of my all-time favourite actresses, the fabulous Emma Thompson.

    They were both first-rate films, so full of passion and emotion, as well as the repression that made the Merchant-Ivory films, at their best, such a treasure.
