Just so that everyone knows, in today's opener for The View, Susan Lucci will be on and the announcer said that the hosts will be asking her if she is returning to AMC.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread

I've seen this before and I've said this before... but the timing seems odd to me. Granted, I say this without seeing 1993-1994 haha. But for me, 1995 was so exciting. I'm guessing they convinced Kim to come back to save the show, but I'm curious if her return and Brent/Marian boosted ratings at all. For me, this cancel concern should have come in 1996. That year was generally boring and I don't think Phillip's return was helpful considering it was a dud. I like Phillip, but his return storyline just wasn't that interesting.
I'm behind right now, but looking forward to seeing those older episodes y'all posted ( @Spoon ) :)

It's nice to see Susan making the rounds to promote "La Lucci." I wish I could've met her during her signings last week. I need to pick up her book soon.
I'll try to watch the Locher Room with Michael Bruno this week. LGBTQ stories are given more priority now but it really was groundbreaking when AMC did their story.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread

I'm really happy I found this thread because I genuinely like reading everyone's POVs. My depth of knowledge spans the late 90s through Jan. 2007. I only watched here and there afterwards. The filming on random streets in Jersey and storytelling didn't inspire me to watch.
I really like how passionate the posts are from the 90s, 80s and even the 60s and 70s. I've always been interested in the Roger Thorpe era and seeing how he became this iconic character, if his trajectory was similar to Luke Spencer and Todd Manning. And I think there was Marian Crane story about a crossdresser.
As for the incestuous relationships, I wish the writers had shown restraint. Reva was with two sons and a father. As mentioned, Bill was with two sets of mother/daughter. Olivia was with Phillip, Alan and I think Gus. Cassie/Josh bothered me more than it should have. Same with Tony/Michelle. Someone should've said "Enough!"

I’ve been enjoying having characters pop up in the middle of the episode too. It adds an element of surprise when you didn’t really expect them to be on that day. Also, we are finally getting a good variety of sets again.. I will give credit where credit is due. The storylines itself are still absolute garbage but I will acknowledge minor improvements when I see them

Yes, Ray was really innocent. Martin was guilty but pinned it on Ray and Ray was sent to prison.
Tim Lawrence was Clare Marshall's husband before she married Jonathan McNeill. He died in a plane crash that Clare witnessed.
Well, there was a little ambiguity left even at the end of the storyline, but the consensus was that Frank's wheelchair slipped on the wet pavement and he went off the cliff in an accident.

French Fan is correct. Ned Holden, Clare Marshall and Jonathan McNeill were the only characters to make the transition from the old show. Ned, however, was only on the new show very, very briefly. I'm not 100% certain, but I believe his last episode was when he went to the airport as French Fan said. I would have to reread the scripts to make sure. But I know he was only in five or so episodes before he just disappeared.

I understand why people like Isaiah, but he does nothing for me as a character. I find him boring and it's not really his fault. Obviously the writers don't care enough to develop him.
In theory I would say he and Jordan would make a good couple, but I feel like that would be a ticket straight off screen. At least Kerr can act and is a stronger scene partner for him.
