Lauren don't be a fool, hit that!

Those are an odd selection of pictures if they are supposed to reflect Y&R's 40th anniversary. Y&R is one of the soaps that I have been ambivalent about and all I see is missed opportunities in those pictures. They also do not have many of Y&R signature stories and characters to the David Kimball saga, Cassandra kidnapping Brad, Katherine/Rex, Nikki/Victor, and John/Jack. The gallery must be incomplete or they plan to rotate the pictures. Regardless, I would not have chosen most of the ones that they have there now.

Has anyone noticed the hints suggesting questions about Summer's paternity? It was yet another huge mistake by LML to make Nick not Jack, Summer's father, but isn't it too late in the game for this twist?

It just seems like one of those dropped storylines. I just remember that scene where Nick looks at the paper but we never see what he's actually looking at.

It seems like those scenes surrounding the paternity/DNA test result were intentionally ambiguous. Either that or the writers wrote themselves into a corner and said 'oh hell, put a period at the end of the scene and call it the end!'

That whole thing always seemed so unfinished.

When Summer got into that car accident, I was half expecting her to need a blood transfusion (e.g. Lily Walsh, ATWT) where her paternity would be shown to have been a mix up. But it hasn't happened thus far.

So I was right about Nikki having MS. My Jack and Nkki are so sweet together. I love how he snarks on Victor unrepentantly. I am happy the storm kept Phyllis away from him.

Neil is trying too hard with Leslie. An older guy that intense and desperate is not attractive.

Damn, Carmine and Lauren were hot! I loved how he leaned on her from behind her when she put with her coat, then grabbed and kissed her. Go Lauren, get some of that! The loud 1970s porn music worked in that scene.

When will Jack ever learn? He needs him to stay away from Phyllis. Cannot they not find him a new love interest. Gah, that horrible music in the dancing scene.

Oh, Chelsea is pregnant. She'll be alright as long as she stays away from Adam.

I try not to comment on the hell is that Nick/Avery/Dylan, but aarggh... too much. Avery was never particularly interesting and Dylan just makes her worse. Why is Nick putting up with this?

Oooo, the preview of Alex and Abby. Now that is interesting.

Oh, Mason's briefly seen girlfriend was stunning.

Y&R has come some ways from the craptastic show that it was last year but still has a long way to go, IMO. It's been improving in increments.

There has yet to be any storylines that are earth shattering or are the stuff of soap legend.

There have been moments here and there of some good scene-work.

There are still some stale points and scenes that drag and yes, some of those lagging scenes do involve Steve Burton's character. For instance, I think JG should've establish the Dylan character on his own before launching him headlong into flashback fever with Avery. I know I really don't care about these flashbacks, they ring hollow because I don't know them.

Someone suggested early on that Dylan might have been a contractor working on the construction on the ranch. I thought that was a much better idea because, it would've given the Dylan character more time to become established before the inevitable 'big reveal' to Avery. His reveal to Avery in Nick's new club was very contrived and anti-climactic.

Y&R has been making incremental progress before and since SB arrived on the scene. As it happens, the most compelling storylines, to me, don't involve Nick/Avery/Dylan.

If anything, the introduction of the Congressman Wheeler character has set things into a higher gear, much more than the Dylan.

The Innocence Project storyline which also involves Avery, Tyler, Leslie and Victor. The Jack addiction storyline, which brought Congressman Wheeler to town, which also involves Phyllis and Victor (and Nikki to a lesser extent). If anything Mark Pinter is driving far more interest and storyline than SB, although for promotional purposes (Mark Pinter is not really going to be on the cover of soap magazines these days), SB has been used to promote Y&R.

I am intrigued by the aspect of Wheeler putting pressure on Victor to do his bidding (because it hasn't been done in so long) and Victor puts pressure on Mason to do his bidding. The two situations are not really related but it's interesting to see how it's setup.

For superficial reasons, some mistakenly think that SB is driving the stories. He hasn't been a bad addition so far but I'd say that JFP and JG probably think that Mark Pinter is the umbrella where a lot of storylines are resting under right now.

This is just my opinion really.

It is an opinion that I agree with. Although I think that SB is a blah addition. He has just arrived and he is already an air hog, making it worse is his horrible attempts at acting and these dreadful flashbacks. There is not a lot of anything interesting on Y&R as far as I am concerned, but this story with Wheeler/Lesile/Tyler is intriguing. I am interested in seeing it unfold. It has the potential to impact quite a few characters, Victor, Jack, Neil, Lily, and Cane. I am also enjoying Chelsea who is growing into an interesting character away from Adam. I am waiting to see what happens next with Carmine/Lauren, Alex and Chloe/Abby, and Mason and his conscience. I have loved Jack's drug rehabilitation and the Abbotts starting to come together, but Jack's entanglement with Phyllis gets the thumbs down from me.

Lauren and Carmine are having some hot scenes!

I have to laugh at the people who defend Nick and Phyllis' affair but want to get moral now about Lauren crossing the line. I want to tell them, 'Oh puhlease...it's a soap opera damnit!' They obviously didn't know or have forgotten what a bad ass Lauren once was. This show is in desperate need of a sexy storyline (which is different from the bed hopping shamble-riffic show it used to be).

I have to admit, that I find the fact that people are now agonizing over Lily and Lauren possibly breaking their vows while having had encourage others in the past (Phyllis and Sharon) to bust up others' relationships really amusing.
