Had I not been privy to his abusing Lela Rochon, I'd feel less guilty about finding him good looking.

Wait -- Shabba-Doo abused "Sunshine" from "Harlem Nights"? Oh! Lawd! What in the hell is wrong with some of these folks?

I wonder if Haywood is still a Scientologist. He gave L. Ron Hubbard a shoutout during the WH!! reunion on Jenny Jones.

I think he is. I know Ernest was also a Scientologist, but I'm not sure if he is one anymore. The late Fred Berry became a Baptist minister before he passed.

Don't worry, TV One repeats their Unsung eps all the time. I did see the Dick Gregory episode (and it was great to see Richard Belzer among the interviewees), it was very good. Wednesday at 10 PM is the newest ep - about Flip Wilson.

As I watched the Dick Gregory Unsung, I kept on drawing a blank as to which black comedian in this era would have the courage to turn down big paycheck after big paycheck to stand up, stand tall, and fight for his / her people. That made me sad.

Yes, it does. God bless him.

I'm looking forward to the Flip Wilson episode tonight. His show was before my time, and I don't know that much about him, so this should be a good ep.

It was a pretty good episode tonight about Flip Wilson. Next week, the movie Cooley High will be profiled.

Holy sh!t! I cannot wait :)

I have Flip on the DVR and will watch that this weekend.

Flip Wilson is one of those celebrities / shows that was right before my time (as I'm an 80s baby), so while I've heard/read of it/him many times, I've never actually seen an episode - all the more reason why he fit the very definition of Unsung perfectly. (I love Pam Grier, but I'd hardly consider her "unsung" amongst those who matter - i.e.: her core audience). I wasn't crazy about seeing that hatchet-faced heifer, Joan Rivers, but I figure that this was the wrinkle that I had to deal with in an otherwise great episode.

That said, seeing clips of OJ Simpson mingling with Black folks on Black shows never fails to startle me, considering what lay ahead.

Especially in Flip's final episode where OJ was thought to be Geraldine's boyfriend..."Killer"? That made me shiver.

I have a friend who thought that Boyz II Men were the first to sing "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday". I sent her the link of G.C. Cameron's original from the Cooley High soundtrack. I assume Lawrence-Hilton Jacobs will be in the episode (at least, I hope!!). In any case, it looks like it will be a good episode. Can't wait to see it.
