* The last OLTL opening was horrible

* John Conboy's GL; GL's in the late eighties was so cheap and uninspired

* Search For Tomorrow's last opening

* Y&R openings were so classy before the actor names were added. The names always ruin everything for me

* The current GH opening is really bad

See, I'm the opposite - I don't see the point of showing actors in the opening if you're not going to actually credit them.

I always laugh at that opening. It sounds like the show itself flatlined, and they needed to put shock paddles on it to keep it going.

And then there's the random Riunite print ad dumped in the middle of all those "Trapper John M.D."-esque surgical room photos, as if they're saying, "Oh, wait, there's some lovin' too!"

LOL You're a funny one :)

Unpopular opinions: I like GH's current opening (the music sounds like a local action news opening, but the brief opening is very current with today's brief/non-existent openings). I like Y&R's porn opening. I liked GL's jazzed up Hold On To Love variations in '95, 96' and early '97, especially the slow jazz ending theme.

Loving had some bad, bad openings. And I always found it weird that the early 90's Loving and OLTL 1992-1996 opening have the exact same look, tone, and feel. Surely they were produced by the same set of people.

Another World's You Take Me Away was terribly, terribly outdated by the 90's. I liked their e.r. revamp in '96 though.

I actually kinda loved the Johnny Mathis and Jeffrey "Can you woo-woo-woo?" Osbourne themes, particularly Jeffrey's, Loving's best opening. ♫The one thing we should treasure, now and forever, is L-O-V-I-N-G!♫ My mama's JAM.

Oh you need to see this.

Everyone needs to see that clip at least once in their lives.

The best part is the fact that the entire apartment is in complete chaos, but what wakes the baby? A door slamming.

That is the single most remembered soap clip my husband remembers me showing him. It was the REALEST depiction of a catfight on soaps, particularly of African-American women. Hilarious!

I wonder if any talk show host has ever played that clip when Vivica's made an appearance.

It's very 90s, but it's the one vocal theme I have a soft spot for--probably because it's the one show I watched regularly with one. I dug the upbeat instrumental closing non vocal theme too.

Me too. At the moment I can't remember if it was electric guitar or synthesizer, but I liked the riffing on the matching instrumental to the lyrics I mentioned above.

I hate the last Loving opening. The song is fine, but the pink, dusty brown color scheme...the random lady touching herself in the bed...the all-caps cursive title card (I HATE all-caps cursive anything). Just gross.

Weren't some of the images to that 1 early teaser promo for Passions during the Soap Award in winter 1999 similar to Loving's 1995 opening? (I wish I had that one on tape, but alas, I cut out commercials when I originally taped it way back when)

P.S. I agree. All capital cursive letters for L-O-V-I-N-G. Just wrong. LOL

I have to make a slight confession and say that as much as Y&R's older openings were so much better, after watching the other's soaps opening's from the 80's and 90's you kind of have to admit that Nadia's theme was just downright depressing to listen to sometimes.

I hated the last version of All My Children, and also thought that the last week of episodes should have picked an opening from a different era to represent all the cast members, and then ended with just the book for the last episode.
