I think it was Burton Armus who (allegedly) wanted Erica and Brooke front-and-center. Although I wouldn't be surprised to learn Alden wanted the same. I do know, though, she attempted to un-do the Unabortion; however, as she explained later in an interview with Sam Ford, she felt doing so would have taken even bigger leaps in story logic and that the audience had been through enough.
