HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

I believe she has had 2 for a while

One, for when she needs to be bougie; and the other for when she needs to keep it real?

I have no doubt a lot more progress has been made than we know, but there is no way to have a story bible in place if there isn't an official WGA deal. On Twitter Michele Val Jean was asking if there was any progress on the WGA deal because it's hard to support them without knowing that. I feel the same way as a fan, without a WGA this won't work because they won't have access to good writers. But even now with all the progress they've made in sets, hiring producers, directors, etc. it still takes time to write a story.

Say the deal was closed friday, Prospect Park needs to get a list of writers to submit story bibles, then they have to pick a HW, then they need to assemble a writing team to write the scripts, etc. That takes time if done correctly and since this is a startup, it SHOULD take time. They need to be rebooting these shows with new families along with the existing ones. I'll feel more comfortable knowing they're going for a summer premiere than I would for March-April. I just think that's too soon.

Again going by what I've heard from various people including Corley, some writers were put in placelast year, and had begun working on story. Of course they'd need WGA to re-hire any of those same writers (and it sounds like Broderick is sticking with Days and fine with her job there--), so it could be guessed that some story bible has already been created. I know that's a big if--and there's the very real fact they may not be able to use any of that due to what writers and what actors might still get hired, but...

So Susan threw yogurt at Henry because she was pissed at the way he was directing her? That's funny. I wonder what kind it was.

Even if the shows relaunched when they were supposed to they still wouldn't have known who was going to show up or not and they wouldn't have known until December. I think they created a "Tentative" bible that would give an idea of how the story was going to move forward. Also, I don't understand how people thought the show would pick up the day after the shooting because several months would have passed so they could easily say moved away.

If Debbi does become a part of this yet to be determined production, hopefully Darnell stays away. Let Angie spread her wings a little bit.

Exactly! We don't even know FOR SURE what the format will be. Even then I bet the shows will be a lot better since there wont be network interference!

Exactly. I actually sorta think--at least at first--alternating between the two soaps (and maybe evenhaving some slight--ie one character--crossovers linking each transition) makes sense rather than launching both. Of course it may just pit OLTL fan against AMC fan once again, but...

I was told again by my same source that last year the AMC team for PP were told it would be a 5 weeks taping 5 weeks off schedule, which sounds like it could hav been similar (of course with shorter episodes they could just film a lot more in those weeks).

Only reason I'm running with it, lol.

That is also the account that broke the news that Debbi was fired from Y&R and that Darnell was bumped to recurring. It is definitely legitimate.

I like that idea.

I hope KWAK stays away as her "B.F.F.", too.

Whether or not its Hulu, a TV network or otherwise, a half hour episode means that it'll actually be 21-23 minutes of actual show with the remaining minutes left for advertisements.

It would be even less, wouldn't it? The average primetime sitcom now clocks in at under 21 mins, and I believe even The City in its last days was around 18 mins as is B&B (daytime programming allows more commercials--hence why a 40-41 minute primetime show is now normal--not 45 mins like 30 years back--and for daytime soaps are only about 36-37 mins). For some reason this still doesn't bug me. As long as we don't get episodes shorter than that, I think it can be enough to set things up, and if they are rotating the soaps, they can focus on a slightly different group of characters each storyline of episodes...
