Members ~bl~
I'm amazed your grandma had the patience to put up with GL in its later years. Hope she has a good birthday next week.
Members SFK
So will ratings be replaced with site hits (i.e., ad dollars) in this new scenario? Theoretically, could PP do these shows indefinitely as long as the money is there and ABC continues to renew their licensing?
Members John
That is always how it read to me
Members Khan
Mama Khan sure didn't. At a certain point, she walked away, in a sense, and started watching Y&R instead. Grandma Khan as well (once GL had been axed). It isn't the same, though.
Members SFK
Speaking of GL, I'm watching ol' H.B. on Alfred Hitchcock presents right now.
Members allmc2008
I Still think Obama or someone should have gave it some sort of recognition. Not a "Soap Bailout" but some gratitude. Hell, it was an institution that inspired so many great shows. I think if it wasn't for GL we wouldn't have the Prime Time shows as well. From the way I look at it: Irna Created GL in 1937 Agnes got her track record from GL and used her experience to create her own shows (AMC/OLTL) AMC was popular with the younger people which may have promp't either GM or TPTB to create L&L on GH to cash in on the younger audience. Dallas (OK, KL was first the way AMC was first) and was inspired by AMC/GH I know that seems like a long shot but I do think GL changed the home entertainment industry as a whole. Members John
Ok now that we have WGA deal who would u like as HW for AMC & OLTL. I for one hope PP asks Ron Carlivati to consult on the OLTL reboot at least at the beginning for Transition. I am sure Agnes Nixon will have input on both shows. Members jfung79
Instead of going through AMC, I would say Irna --> GL ---->Another World inspired Dallas ... The Ewings are actually named after the Ewings from Another World, fact.
Members Khan
In a "perfect" world, one where I felt all this to be 100-percent legit, and writers actually would be clamoring for the opportunity, Jeff Beldner, Bettina F. Bradbury, Hal Corley, Susan Dansby, Karen Lewis, Patrick Mulcahey, Lynda Myles, Michelle Patrick, Courtney Simon and Michele Val Jean would be on AMC 2.0's writing staff, with Mulcahey and/or Corley serving as HW. Members jfung79
My wish list is Carlivati for OLTL, and Richard Culliton, Lorraine Broderick, or David Kreizman for AMC. Since the show is going to have the Castillos, no one knows them better than Kreizman and Donna Swajeski. But this wish list is not going to happen, alas. So I'll just be happy if they keep Jean Passanante away from both shows.
Members John
Good list Khan. What about OLTL? I think PP could get current Breakdown & script writers to Join esp if they have or want HW exp.

Members Scotty
I don't know when she started watching it, but my great aunt (who died nearly a year ago) watched ATWT for years and years and was shocked when I told her it had been cancelled and would be off the air in a matter of months back in 2010. The final episode aired less than a month before her 95th birthday. She died about a year and a half later.
Members Vee
Khan's left the janitorial staff to handle OLTL, since he wrote it off as a lost cause after the glory days of 1982.
Members John
Nothing aganist Jen Pepperman but given that PP picked Ginger Smith who has been with AMC since 1988 as EP, Im surprised They didnt pick Suzanne Flynn as OLTL EP. SF had over 20 years of producing OLTL when it was on ABC
