Members MrQuartermaine
Sad as the name Paul Rauch has been one of the most associated names with Daytime for over 30 years now.
Members yr9190
I'm totally Shocked! Even though I wasn't a fan of some of his behind the scenes controversy (the mistreating of Ellen Holly is probably the big one) It's still a sad loss for daytime RIP! Members Gray Bunny
Controversial indeed, but the man gave a damn about daytime and in trying to make it the best product it could possibly be.
Members MichaelGL
As someone said earlier he was one of those that you thought woukd be around forever.
Members SFK
Makes me wish SoapNet had (among other things) a Larry King-like program where actors, writers, producers, and soap scholars could intelligently discuss him and his work. Members DRW50
I'd like that too, as long as it doesn't involve Nellie B Olsen talking about dick size rumors.
Members SFK
My choice of "scholars" rather than "journalists" was intentional. And the only thing Rauch was packin' was Lillian Hayman's bags.
Members DRW50
That would be nice then. I know there are still a few around, mostly on the Internet. Torchin, the guy with the three names who wrote for SOD and Weekly (my memory is awful), Marlena de la Croix. Maybe Michael Logan. Maybe. Rauch certainly had a breadth of work to analyze. I'm just sorry most of his best AW is gone.
Members MissLlanviewPA
Have there been any other actors/other producers who have given any statements? It would be interesting to hear from people who were basically discovered by him, such as John Loprieno, James DePaiva, Fiona Hutchison, Jensen Buchanan, and Jessica Tuck, not to mention someone like Victoria Wyndham at AW. Members SFK
Has Brandon (of the Buzz) done his Erika Slezak interview already? She was one of his admirers. I checked Robin Strasser's Twitter to see if she'd made a comment. She says, "Paul worked & lived fiercely. A complicated man whose brand was tenacity." Members MissLlanviewPA
Wasn't he Erika's favorite EP at OLTL? She also liked JFP and Gary Tomlin (and I think she always liked FV), but I somehow got the impression Paul was her favorite. Kim Zimmer said in her book that Paul was her favorite at GL, too, IIRC. Members Y&RWorldTurner
Beverlee McKinsey also adored him.
Members SFK
He officialized her soap stardom with Texas. He was very good to some of his leading ladies, giving them a wealth of material to play.
