SON Memories

I was a WoST member back when WoST and SON were "rivals". laugh.png About a year after WoST folded and my soap loving mom passed, I signed up here for some soapy soup for the soul, I guess.

I miss some posters who I no longer see around.

I was a WoST member WAYYY back, by the time SON started the WoST membership was already getting kinda nutty (no offense to Brian). Best WoST memory, though, would have to be Rick Rhodes throwing a FIT when his GL theme song was panned.

LMFAO I do recall that. I was on WoST, too, but once they moved the board to a new format/software, it was so hard to read. The discussion was always amazing, though.

I miss both bellcurve and Sylph as well

I couldnt stand Sylph lol but I liked to hear Bellcurve's opinion on alot of things. I wonder what he has had to say about the shakeups at ABC the past year.

I wish I was around during the SSK storyline.

But since I joined the only thing of note I remember is the infamous Farah Fath finger post on Myspace!!!!

Sylph single-handedly caused me to avoid this site for years. I hear he is still active on other message boards, however, arguing that the sky is not blue.

I only wish that Bellcurve exit thread was not deleted so everyone could be reminded of what it is they are missing.

Yes, that was quite the blowout. I think that thread was the worst he and I ever went at it. And how fitting that the final thread he posted in was about Jackie Zeman, considering how much time he spent berating me for liking her.

Oh, please give me some details, I missed the whole damn thing! I didn't know there was an exit thread! I seem to be in the john when all the good stuff goes down LOL

I miss MarkH. Not so much because I needed flow charts on the death of soaps and how soaps can never return, but because of all the Y&R analysis. I hated MAB and Sheffer's Y&R for many reasons and the endless ugliness on this board in 2009 is a big reason why.

@MarkHSoap

I miss Sylph.

Thanks. I meant I miss his posts here. I read his Twitter at times but don't follow Y&R twitter stuff, especially a few years ago when there was so much fawning over Tom Casiello.

I miss the articles Sylph posted.

I don't remember it all. It was some Jackie Zeman thread Soapboy hasn't even posted in yet and Bellcurve attacked him out of nowhere, and that was after attacking him non-stop relentlessly in the GH thread. Before it was over he was attacking everyone and telling someone else they were the face of AIDS or something to that effect. I think someone might have that in their signature actually.

I miss Sylph.

I miss our data wonks. MarkH, Sylph, Jess, Bellcurve, Angela...they kept the ratings threads grounded. The graphs, the analysis... even when I didn't understand what they were talking about, I appreciated the systematic approach. We need that now more than ever. I feel like all we see in the ratings thread is spin and agenda. That's not SON's fault. It's just the nature of the genre.

But one of the posters I miss the most is Steve Frame. Even when we didn't agree, I could see how much he loved the genre. I'm just sad that he had such a tough time on the board at the end.
