May I just ask an admittedly frivolous question?

Why does everybody on this show have a "J" name?! Why is there John, Johnny, John Jacks (who's apparently dead), Jason, Jerry, Jax, Joe Jr., Josselyn and Jake (may he rest in peace)? Is there a reason for this? Is this a throwback to some old writers joke? Because for all the "quirkiness" this seems to bring, from a writing standpoint it's amateurish. It's especially bad to have two characters on the show with the same name (John/Johnny). Having them both talking about a third character with the same name (John Jacks) is nonsensical. I know that there's a lot of McBain hate and I get it, trust me, but just from a Writing 101 standpoint John McBain shouldn't have been brought on the show with a character named Johnny already on canvas.

So really, is there a reason for the "J"s? Because right now, all that's left for them to do is bring on Jenny and Jesse from AMC and JJ from Good TImes.

LOL....AMC actually had quite a bit at one point. Jeff, Joe, Jamie, JR, Josh, Jonathan and Amanda slept with most of them.

As for John and Johnny, well they dont have the same name. I dont think its hard to follow with these two and John Jacks is dead so he's really a nonfactor.

Um Johnny's name is John "Johnny" Anthony Zacchara so technically they do have the same name.

I remember when GH had John Beradino (Steve), John Reilly (Sean) John J. York (Mac), John Ingle (Edward), Jonathan Jackson (Lucky), & Jon Lindstrom (Kevin) all on the show at the same time. Talk about a lot of J's & having the same name.

I didn't realize that but you're absolutely right. I'll give a pass to Jeff, Joe, Jamie (and Jake) because they're all Martins. I'm counting JR as half because he was named that in the attempt to differentiate him from Adam Sr. But you bring up a good point.

But they DO have the same name. Different variations but the same name. It's like Bob/Bobby or Patrick/Paddy. It's the same name. And the fact that John Jacks is dead is the perfect reason he should never have been brought back in any form - even as conversation topic - as long as there was already two "Johns" on the canvas.

But getting back to my original question: is there a reason for this? Other than laziness? I'm truly not trying to be a hater but the J stuff just feels like such a gimmick. However if it's a gimmick that's true to the spirit of the show then Mazel Tov.

No one is going around calling him John Zacharra. From a writing standpoint, he's already differentiated by the fact that he only goes by his nickname

I forgot about Jake but yeah thats another J, Amanda screwed. She even poised the question why does she always have bad luck with J men and Janet (another J!) told her to try a new letter in the alphabet...lol

I love how open minded people are, that just because RC sucked on OLTL, that automatically means he sucks on GH.

If we were saying that before his work started airing, you might have a point. But it's been awhile...a long while...so I think we can make more informed opinions.

A note to the producers of GH:

When you want Todd to smother somebody in a hospital, take the friggin' oxygen out of his nose....it works better!

That reminds me of when Skye did this to the odious Tanner on AMC, while he was still wearing an oxygen mask.

I will just take this as our saviors doing a shout-out to Carrie Genzel wub.png

It's better because OLTL fans say it's better, so it must be true.

So THAT's how it works. Gotcha. :D

At least Janet is a woman. That's a departure right there.

With special guest star Jenna Jameson.

Jenny, Julie, Julia, Jane . More J men, Juan Pablo , Jack, Jamal, Jonathan Kinder and Jim

I remember, I think it was Megan McTavish saying something about all the Js in an interview once. She said they were always getting confused in the writers room since half the character names started with a J.

But how many of them were on the show at the same time? And I don't count Juan Pablo because of pronunciation.

Granted, I throw a lot of shade at Cartini. For me this isn't about them. It just seems stupid to me to have this many characters with similar-ish names. When I write, amateur/hobbyist though I am, I at least try to pay attention to what my characters are named for just this reason. But I'll acknowledge that maybe it's just me.

So bc other couples have had it bad, none should end up happy or is it just Jason/Sam? I dont really see them getting a decent end considering the fact that Jason is leaving and Sam isnt. Unless she they are riding out into the sunset together (and thats not happening), they are going to get one final heartache to finally end them. Hardly sounds like a happy ending to this insufferable couple

I'm going with just Jason/Sam because they managed to suck a lot of life out of that show with their depressing ways. They don't need a happy ending....they need to look just as depressed as they possibly can. One constipated look goodbye and a band should pop up out of nowhere and set off fireworks to mark the end of that sorry pair. Or McBain could just suck up Sam's face while Jason outdoes his blank stare.

The viewers that had to sit through their miserable existence are the ones who need the onscreen party. Seriously.
