OMG, Maria has no shame, so pathetic:

"My ratings are strong." WTF!? LOL! This is why this woman needed to be fired.

My ratings are strong... each week stronger than last year. The show is in a great place creatively. We are number one by the greatest margin in the show's history and have been consistently while I've been there. Under no one else's tenure as head writer exec producer have we won every demographic for so long. I am just shy of five years at the helm. It has been an amazing ride. So why am I leaving? I am mystified as are my cast and crew.

So laughable:

"There have been a lot of tears shed in the last few days... by me and by my loyal staff and by our iconic actors," she continues. "I was not given a reason and in fact I have heard nothing from Sony or CBS. They sent me a message through my husband Bill who had the terrible job of conveying that they'd gone around him and were letting me go. I fought hard for my vision and to keep the show on track with the characters that matter to the audience. Maybe I fought too hard. But I am glad I did. I never compromised on what I believed in. I never dumbed down the storytelling. I walked in the door at Y and R in 1988... as a young writer getting her first job. Today I leave there knowing it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I love you Y and R. Your story was my life story too. And to Victor... Nikki... Jack... and Kay... I will miss you."

She never dumbed down storytelling with multiple dopplegangers appearing at once, chipmunks running galore, and the latest psycho of the month?

No directing, but he is the Supervising Producer for a few years now, I believe.

Thanks the whole current storylines have been watching less and less and I'm too lazy to read the credits anymore.

I do agree Phelps should at least try to recruit more of Y&R's old guard, namely Alden. Some of us back in 2006 thought maybe an outsider could save the show after Smith's ineptitude ruined it but obviously not. Same with Sheffer, Rauch, and Hamner. But hey, on the optimistic side maybe it was the wrong outsider? Maybe JFP saves the show? ph34r.png

Oh as for MAB being "mystified" by her firing, wow. Ratings have been declining and just about everyone has been unhappy with the state of the show for a long time now yet she chose to ignore it.

God bless Steven Kent for canning her ass, more so now than ever.

I may not be 100% confident in JFP, but when she's good, she's good and Maria has never been on her level. At least Jill owns who she is.

For her to want to tell so many stories, a lot of them seemed to be the same. A character is aged, returns, has daddy issues and goes psycho.

In all fairness to MAB, ratings for every soap have dropped. Is y&R any worse than any other show in terms of ratings declines? I don't think she was fired for that I think it was mostly due to budget. These corporations only care about the bottom line these days. And while I know the show is abysmal, they do still, have a lot of what I assume high priced vets around and have hired even more with GF, SN, and DM

She's the epitome of a rich whiney brat! Pathetic ass! Ugh! Bill, go buy your wife a piece of jewelry, a horse or an island so she can STFU and keep it moving!

They've consistently lost more viewers year to year than the other soaps.

They've consistently lost more viewers year to year than the other soaps.

But they also have more to lose. OLTL went to record lows under RC and FV in 2010 and they weren't fired. Guza dropped over a million viewers in one year and was not fired. He wasn't axed until they wanted him to take a huge salary cut. I still think it's all about money. She wouldn't make the tough decisions and cut staff, salaries, or even put a haltnto bringing on vets from other soaps which I am sure cost money.

I'm not defending her but these corporations don't care about quality and creativity. They only care about the bottom line.

I think she was probably gone due to year on year declines. The bottom has been falling out and they have to throw money to hide it.

I was shaking my head when she said they were #1 by a bigger margin than ever before. There are only 4 damn soaps on the air now! That means nothing. Ridiculous.

The delusions of this woman. I used to think she was a con artist, but now I realize she is conning herself.

Go back to MOCA.

ABC was planning to get rid of OLTL by that time.

Will someone please explain how JFP keeps getting hired as EP? Her track record of success is minimal at best. She's definitely not a good fit for an iconic show like Y&R. I know she's a pal of Stephen Kent's, but for God's sake, how can anyone at Sony look at her history in daytime and think she's what Y&R needs at this point. The same for Josh Griffith, a minimally talented writer at best. If they hope to keep this show afloat, they'd better bring Alden or Smith over from B&B; only they know how to tell stories in Bill Bell's vein.

No one cares at this point, can anyone explain why the inexperienced Maria Arena Bell was heading this show for the past 5 years with no previous record of success in the genre at all?

I guess she was sleeping with the boss...
