Her clothes have nothing to do with the shows budget because the show only buys top designer wear. Like average 150-200 for a top

Does wardrobe have a separate budget?

Well, even if what they outfit her in is expensive, it's all wrong for Kate. At first it was boxy power suits (which I guess did look expensive, they just dated and not 'high fashion' like MW's Kate was always wearing) and then it became pretty uninteresting short dresses with trendy, inexpensive looking long, thin necklaces. Now I don't even know what's going on with the blouses and stuff. Kate, Kate, Kate . . .

Around the time Kate was introduced, I think that the wardrobe department actually did a nice job of dressing the actors the way their character was supposed to look. I particularly remember with Liz and Sam, I thought they did a good job then. And definitely Kate, and later Maxie when she became Kate's protege.

He punched Tea out. She hit him with the shovel.

Tea has plenty of fans and all kinds of hype. She always has. The problem is her stories are always garbage because they mostly focus on how awesome she is and how everyone else (aside from her kids and the rapists she loves) sucks.

I would actually really like Tea (mainly because of FL) if, ya, her entire OLTL runs weren't about completely defending that sicko sociopath, Todd (RH or TSJ; I personally try not to acknowledge The Tale of Two Todds). And what's even creepier with Tea is that the dialogue communicated several, several times that she knew exactly what was up with Todd and would call him on his vileness, but would, for the most part, publically defend him till she was blue in the face. Characters like Blair and Carly have never been given such clear awareness about Todd and Sonny, respectively. Sure, they acknowledge all the bad stuff and how many times they've been hurt, but except for a few anti-Todd periods for Blair and Garin Wolfe-Carly, they actually do appear ignorant to a point about their slimeball ex-husbands. I'm not defending them, just highlighting how much more craze Tea is because the writers really do make sure the audience knows that Tea knows everything. Even if details are kept from her, she always would point out what a lowlifer Todd was and then they had this really abusive, freaky relationship where they equally seemed to hate each other as much as they loved each other. TSJTodd and Tea were one of RC's 'edgy' moves that never translated well for me, and I hated the triangle with Blair. TSJTodd & Tea always seemed to be at the expense of Blair, too, which I never liked.

Would anyone be so kind as to provide me with the Cliff Notes of the Twitter fight that Ron had with GH fans? I have a feeling that I missed out on some great fuckery...

It'd be much appreciated...

Most of the actresses are the same. The wardrobe person is the same. The only difference is Frank Valentini.

I havent found GH wardrobe great in the past few years. Maxie used to wear some ugly/childish(doesn't help that I saw Molly wearing a few of her pieces) crap that we used to make fun of on another board. Same with Carly and sometimes Lulu. Molly and Kristina were always back and forth between wearing stuff too old or too young for them. Brooklynn was a tacky mess. I've been convinced wardrobe had it in for some people.

Pre-Cartooni, most GH actresses who had been on the show for any length of time were given a lot of leeway in what they wore on the show. The exception was special events, where the Wardrobe and Design teams worked together to create the overall design.

In general, the GH wardrobe people did the shopping, buying clothes that fit the characters, what the characters would be doing, and the kinds of things they knew the individual actresses liked to wear. JFP was a very active participant in the process. The actresses chose from among the clothes the wardrobe people brought them and those things they didn't like were returned. I have been told that KS, LW, JMB, KeMo, NLG, KMc and BH were among those who were allowed to choose. A nice benefit is that they were allowed to buy at deep discount those clothes they would not be wearing again.

If you either liked or didn't like the way Carly or KS' Maxie or Lulu or Sam or Alexis or Robin or Elizabeth dressed back then, the actress should come in for her fair share of the blame along with Wardrobe and JFP. I doubt seriously that either LA or HP was given any say. I don't know about Kelly Sullivan; I've never heard anything about her wardrobe.

Constance Towers wore her own clothing.

This is what Wardrobe's Mary Iannelli said in the linked article:

When our writers first introduce a character, I speak with Frank Valentini our executive producer. We figure out what type of person they are, what their background is, where they come from and how they grew up. After we discuss the general back story, I will go out and shop some looks for the actor. Before shopping I will talk with the actor, get their sizes and talk about their feelings about the character. I also consider what will look good on their particular body type, while being age and character appropriate. I do a fitting and make alterations accordingly. Then Frank looks at the photos to decide what looks he deems appropriate. So I would say the whole process is definitely a collaborative effort!! Thanks for the interest!

Valentini meets with Wardrobe and decides what they are to buy, then he makes the final wardrobe decisions. Jjudging by how badly GH's actresses are being dressed now (for the most part), I don't think the actresses have as much say in how they dress.

As Khan said a few days ago, not all gay men have taste.
