I love how they use this as an excuse but then quickly say it's all about Sonny. John doesn't give a damn about anyone, he just loves to purse his lips, put his hands on his hips, and stare impassively at other men for some lame "feud."

Maybe he and Sonny used to go around banning shampoo and soap.

Every time I read the word "Cartini" my skin crawls for some reason...

If you ever saw one John scene you'll know the gist. Staring into space, lip puckering, looking bored, and having a spark with a woman for about a half a second before she has a complete nervous breakdown over him.

I just don't see a difference between this and a dozen stories Sonny has already had - it's not like ME and MB are these amazing untapped talents waiting for new inspiration. They know what they do and they do it again and again.

I actually didn't have a problem with John until the story where he happily tossed out Natalie and baby and hooked up with Kelly. The story was a disaster, in that he never showed any hint of regret and it took 50 different characters saying "You still love Natalie" to move the plot along. I hated it (not because of "Jolie" being apart, just because of the incredible misogny and inertia where months and months would pass before he batted a damn eyelash) and I have never liked John since. GH already has so many men who are comatose.

I think Cartini wrote the end of OLTL like they did because when they filmed the final show Nov 18th. They were under the impression OLTL would resume filming after Thanksgiving. The plan was for OLTL to end on ABC Jan 13th 2012 and start on PP's TOLN on Jan 16th 2012 with no break

But then Nov 23rd PP cancelled plans to continue OLTL

    • LOL - this is a perfect description, and that's what I loved about it! May be a bit campy, but it immediately caught my attention in a good way.  I'm not familiar with the Fishing Trip storyline, I'll have to look that up. I've noticed that about Josh, which has made him less attractive to me overall. He just yells a lot when he's not happy. Wow, Reva was married to HB!  LOL - "Always... eventually, and again"
    • I love your ideas. I would love to see Jack grown up this confused unhinged individual. He should hold a grudge against both Brooke and Taylor.

    • Lois's return has been a bust. So disappointing that the writers have never written for her. As with Tracy, the pool of GH vets is so thin, there's no one to pair her with. Doubtful they would go to the trouble of properly recasting a legacy character and then sticking  him with Lois; they're obviously not that invested. If she wants to be on this show, it'll be as a noisy grandma who stays in the background.
    • I love me some Anita and TT. They need to give her a good storyline and I know that it's coming.
    • @Franko Thanks for tagging me. A few days ago I was talking in another thread about the rise of "snarky" critics for TV shows in the '90s online recaps, but this is just more along the lines of a mauling. There's also the unspoken reality that films like Steel Magnolias were seen as movies for women, so therefore they sucked. Pauline Kael also had her share of blunt, at times incredibly nasty remarks, but the vitriol is often balanced by her love for film. I'm not seeing that here.  With that said, the comment about Field's work becoming unbearable describes how I felt when I tried to sit through her and Maura Tierney on ER.
    • I skipped most of Daniel too. I think it's awful he has kids with Nicole, Csrky5 and Chloe and Brady, Bo and Philip do not.

    • Today was very focused on Bo and his illness.  I’m liking how everything is ultimately tied together, even though everybody doesn’t know it yet. The EJ connection seems a little sudden and random though. I’m guessing that that was not on Ron’s agenda. And I’m not really sure why any of these rich people couldn’t help the hospital months ago lol  But I really like how the whole sepsis drug thing is being written a lot more realistically than what we’ve grown accustomed to with Dr. Rolf and all of his wonder drugs. They’re definitely putting more of an effort into this storyline. It feels more real.  Philip was a little whiny and self-pitying today, but I also feel like the writing has improved for him as well. He’s coming off less like a villain and more like a tragic hero. I enjoyed his scene with Stephanie and hopefully it means that at some point, we’ll get a revival of Philip/ Stephanie/Alex. Tying it to Stephanie’s novel could be really good. And, the dorkiness of Xander and Sarah was really sweet too. I’m looking forward to their weekend together and what secrets may or may not come out lol
