Max... I really like your posts, but WHO said that? There was some disappointment that he wouldn't continue with PP especially considering the ending. I don't remember *anyone* on here saying that though. Everyone seemed to echo MEK's thoughts that he would be smart to accept the sure fire job not a questionable one. People did say that they probably wouldn't use him much, which so far is kinda true...

Even if his stint on B&B was short term, that's more money he'd be making unemployed and it keeps him out there before his next gig. I don't see the problem at all. And of course with B&B you take a risk and sometimes you break out, sometimes you don't. I think it's a risk worth taking considering B&B does pay well and has a good work schedule.

As for the ratings success, I think it's the Spencer storyline in general. I like all the actors involved, although I'm not fond of Liam and Hope as characters. She's an idiot for wanting him back and he's a creep for dumping her because she wasn't ready to have sex. However, I do think the characters of Steffy, Bill and Katie are hugely popular and they've heavily involved in this story. Everybody is forgetting that Katie was locked in the tower (with a location shoot) and Heather Tom is a powerhouse actress. I can see that bringing in eyeballs. In general I am mostly pleased with the show. Even Rick/Amber have potential. I don't think there's anything glaringly bad on the show and it has a good diversity right now. Camp, romance, drama and it's light enough to take in and go about your day.

Something about Katie has never really worked, IMO, although I do like Heather. I think most of the interest goes with Bill and Steffy.

I wouldn't say going to B&B is a risk - it's fast employment, after all. I just remember at the time there was a lot of, "PP sucks, he's right, how genius this is," and so on, and I got the feeling some didn't realize just how short the B&B shelf life often is.

People, let's not get stupid about this B&B ratings hike. The only reason B&B or any soap got a ratings boost over the past 2 weeks is due to the snowstorms that been going aross the US. I doubt the frontburner story on B&B have any to do with it. Besides, the ratings are too high to prove any true growth yet. I just don't want people to act like fools when the correction kicks into gear.

Reasons B&B is doing well:

-Some AMC/OLTL viewers not wanting to quit soaps entirely; B&B benefits by being a half-hour, fluffy, light, fun and mostly undepressing.

-Lunch-time slot + bringing over Jacob Young.

-ABC (rightly) getting punished by viewers.

-Steffy-Bill-Katie-Liam-Hope umbrella story is made of win and has longevity.

-Romance, not murder, front-and-center

Also: Don Diamont must be the luckiest man in Daytime.

Eric, I sincerely apologize for not digging through old threads to find a quote for you, but I distinctly remember Jacob Young and Debbi Morgan being the subject of personal attacks for not sticking with AMC and instead choosing a Bell soap. (I seem to recall that many of these attacks occurred prior to the airing of the finale.) As you alluded to, part of the attack centered on the fact that it was a bad career decision because they wouldn't receive as much airtime on B&B/Y&R as they did on AMC (yet this was completely irrelevant given that PP didn't have the money to get AMC off the ground). (The other part of the attack, which came later, was that they--along with other AMC stars who refused to sign on--were responsible for not making the PP project a reality.)

I can't speak for Debbi Morgan, but thankfully Young is finally being featured more on B&B. I believe the writers and producers know his talents, which is why they are embarking on a power struggle storyline between Rick and Ridge.

    • I'm anticipating most of the cast at the Nice location for a few weeks a la the Tuscan villa for Victoria and Ashland's wedding. I don't know why they bother. I'd rather see the money going into more regular home/office sets. This party has been a bust. No secrets revealed, break ups  etc. Ugly decorations and I'm going to slam the costuming again. Just the guests heaping praise on  Nikki  like she's achieved some magnificent milestone rather than just getting a year older.

In the loving arms of his wife, Dr. Marlena Evans, John took his last breath at the end of the June 2 episode, after suffering devastating internal injuries during a lab explosion. The iconic character went out as he lived — a hero. Sensing the fans’ devastation on Monday, Marlena’s portrayer Deidre Hall posted this simple-but-powerful message to fans on Instagram: “I know. I know. Hardest day ever.”

    • Now coming into June...well...   I knew it was coming but I didn't like the start to the next round of Dani/Bill/Hayley. As the 3 A plots from the start of the show (The SilkPress storyline and Martin's Secret being the other two), it needed to be benched for a while to develop those characters and allow other characters and storylines to grow. 3 months in, Hayley is the weak link, Dani is still divisive, but not boring, and Bill has been making his mark with some plots faster than others. So last week seeing the story starting to loop back around to them with Hayley's potential pregnancy, I honestly had mixed feelings.   I get it. The SilkPress storyline is currently in aftermath/next turn mode, so it has to be moved into a C plot position. Moreso if we want to keep the very talented Miss Trish around. And I love how clever the writers are being with the storyline. They give us enough in the episodes and are still playing out beats to keep the appetite fed. I don't feel like anyone is being dumbed down to keep her around. And Trish is giving nuances in her alone scenes with NuTed. I shouldn't care for a clear psycho, but she be selling it. That said...I wish they had given us a little more of the Martin's Secret storyline in the last week of the month though I loved the game of cat and mouse Bill did on Martin and Smitty to keep the storyline alive and active after it had a nice build beginning of May and vanished for a week mid-May. And it appears like it's about to go back to the backburner as an A plot which of course leaves the A plot of Dani/Bill/Hayley.   I am probably in the minority as someone who is not anti-Dani here and even she annoyed the heck out of me last week. In character true, but I just felt like there was a way to get all of that across without it feeling like...as I've said before...one step forward, two steps back...and have it feel organic. I liked Hayley got a little bit of edge with her, but she still ain't no match for Dani. And it reminds to be seen if we should be going back to that well of a story yet.   Now about today's show...   And I thought Tracy was bad! lol. But YES. Sharon has been worth the wait. And so has Anita's story! Finally having TT in the limelight. This has been a nice slow burn for me and a nice B plot. And the actress is good. The wig is giving. And her holding what Anita's secret is over her head and threatening to tell Vernon....Ooooo...that is what I was waiting for.    And speaking of bad...I thought Eva vs Kat was a great rivalry. But I am loving the rivalry that is growing with 'Nancy Drew' and Silk Press Sheila! They both get good licks in and are so cunning with each other. And I definitely have liked that since the anniversary party, that it has been growing. Now that Kat has been proven right, she has not backed down. And neither has SilkPress. And we got a 'Ms. B@tch' moment, too? LOVE. Eva coming up with a trump card was delicious and so 90s Sami Brady. GOOD. And the coda with Jacob and the expert...YES. The Silk Press storyline has been the best paced on the show so I love that the aftermath of the anniversary party continues to be so...barring one flaw...well for me. Not enough Nicole's POV.   And I like the C plots on display. And by that, I mean Chelsea with Vernon. And it made me wonder what the writers have plan for her love life now that the throuple is over with. I was watching her and going awww.   And of course the mystery man around Martin. I am starting to wonder if he really even works at the country club given how he made a run for it. That would be a twist.    Speaking of Martin...good to see him in scenes with his father and mother.    I'm getting used to NuTed.    I felt the last episode of May was a bit of a letdown, but this was a very nice recovery.
    • Unless they cut him, I'd think he would stay. Surely, he didn't choose to return because he expected high quality. I figure he gets to work when he wants and spend a lot of time doing his own thing and being with his family.
    • The writing for Liz and Lucky is indeed terrible, but if JJ signed a one-year contract he may be gone in a couple of months anyway. Perhaps they’re just cutting their losses.
    • That would be his older sister Stacey. She was the center of a big story back in the day. Nola was out to snag medical student Kelly Nelson, who she thought would provide her with the life she craved. He was in love with a girl named Morgan. Nola plotted to get pregnant by him, but couldn't manage to get him in bed. So she seduced Floyd, who thought she was in love with him. When she knew she was pregnant, she got Kelly drunk and made sure he woke up next to her in bed. Kelly believed her when she told him he made her pregnant. They were about to elope to Las Vegas, but her mother ratted her out and Kelly abandoned her. She almost married Floyd, but jilted him at the altar. She went to work for Quint. When the baby came prematurely, Kelly saved both of them. She named the baby Kelly Louise to irk Morgan, who was now married to Kelly. When she fell in love with Quint, she had a change of heart over all the trouble she had caused, so she changed the baby's name to Anastasia Louise, shortened to Stacey. Quint was a devoted stepfather and Henry treated her like his own granddaughter.  After Quint and Nola leave SF, I believe Stacey is never seen again. Which is odd, you would think they would have brought her back with Nola and J, but they never did.
