Back in the 90's a few soaps aired a few primetime episdoes. Days aired three I think and Y&R aired a few it self I want to know which soap aired the better episoe and which soap utlized it's night time outing the most.

I remeber in one episode of Y&R They did a who shot Victor Newman. It turned out to be Mari Jo.

On Days they had one called Winter Heat, and a few others. I think one was even called "One stormy Night"

I know Port CHarles debuted in primtime.

Didnt AW mhave a prime time outing?

Were there any soaps of the 70's or 80's that aired in primetime?

The three from Days were:

1. One Stormy Night

2. Night Sins (where Jarlena got together on the conference table at Titan and Sami caught them)

3. Winter Dreams (Vivian imagines having a lobotomy in this one)

I think AW had one called Fire & Ice--could have just been a promo, though, it's on an old tape of mine from 1993.

OLTL had one in 1998 when Todd held half of Llanview hostage up at either Viki or Asa's cabin to figure out who killed Georgie Phillips.

The OLTL episode was an episode filmed for daytime and then bumped up to primetime in a hurry, just to fill a gap or whatever, or because the soaps had been preempted that day. They added on a "film look," which Marlena de la Croix or someone else said looked like it had been dipped in dirty bathwater.

GH also had a "primetime" episode around this same time.

WOW. I seriously had no idea, as this was before I started watching the show. I thought it was a legit primetime episode that JFP strong armed ABC into doing or something laugh.png .

My poor red headed stepchild soap. I'll always love it, even if it's network, for some unknown reason, didn't. sad.png That makes the dirty bathwater comment a little bittersweet to me.

Twist of Fate was November 1996, I think.

Y&R had several primetime episodes - one in 1996 I remember even though I never saw it, as I read about Peter Bergman and Don Diamont showing their asses (Bergman wasn't exactly thrilled about this as Diamont was a Greek god). A year later they had another, which I think had a big gala party Victor threw for Diane, which Nikki gleefully ruined by casually telling everyone that she and her husband planned to have a baby.

    • I guess he was let out the gates, because he's outside.
    • Yup.  You can hate John all you want, but like seriously he was the cornerstone of the show for years.  So he should get a long ass funeral and burial and all the things because Drake and John deserve that.

      look who’s at a party I’m at
    • Yes. We should absolutely move on from John/Drake's 40 year legacy on the show to see what Leo is going to do tomorrow.  Lol.  This can't be a serious post.

I came in with a dream and left with a purpose. From lecture halls to rehearsals, community work to creative sets, every moment shaped me. I’m so proud of the stories I’ve told here — and the ones still unfolding. Grateful to everyone who poured into me, supported me, challenged me, and believed in me. Fours up and peace out! #UCLA #ClassOf2025 #BlackBruinExcellence #YearbookVideo @jordanward
    • The actor who plays Martin has been teasing that nobody has guessed Martin's secret. I love that for things like that and the June story we have no idea. I feel like if we didn't have the day ahead feeds Anita's reveal would've been shocking as well. I love that they aren't going the obvious route with these stories.
    • I tried following the news in Los Angeles at https://laist.com (independent public radio and news) They had up-to-the minute accurate info during the wildfires in January. There's no video, no impact to my mind as to what's happening. Trying other outlets, to get the truth, but it's hard.
    • That's a bit murky since that happened during a writers' strike. Assuming Kristen Marie had a 2-year contract she left about when her contract would have expired and Sharlene and Josie showed up right before that. Lemay was officially credited as HW from September 1988 but it seems very probable that his anticipated tenure influenced events that happened during the strike which started in April.
    • I've seen so many posters over the years who are bright, creative, well-versed in soap history, and who care deeply about the integrity of the genre. I'd put the shows' chances in their hands a lot faster than I would allow any of the "usual suspects" to take control of the dramas they've already helped decimate. When I returned to university in the 1980s, I created a bible for a new soap and presented it in my screenwriting class. It was in reaction to how badly I saw the network shows being butchered at the time. The creative process was thrilling; a total joy, and I still smile when I remember the positive feedback I received from the professor and my fellow students. I was used to seeing written commentary from professors on my work. This one wrote me a long, complimentary note on the final page of the bible, but also graded it 97%, A+. I was beaming ear to ear for days!
