Who else thinks Tyler Perry would make a good HW for Y&R?

If you notice all of Tyler Perry movies and plays have an extreme soapy feeling. Their is always some affair brewing and some type of secret past.

What do you guys think?

NO. I can't begrudge his success, and I don't think I'm his target audience, but I don't want more stories about women being rescued from bad abusive men by princely men, easy caricatures, and the addition of a lot of bible thumping.

It couldn't be any worse than MAB.

Perry can do anything he puts his mind to. Y&R could use a mix of Big Mama and For Colored Girls. Sharon might discover she has a soul

For Colored Girls was a BRILLIANT play from the 70s. Besides hiring a largely great cast, Perry's contributions all were mawkish and worked to diminish it's true message.

With all due respect, no.

No. IMO, Tyler Perry is a highly uncreative writer that has just gotten by due to Madea.

Dear God NO. Every single one of his movies is the same.

I don't necessarily think that Tyler would be the right fit for Y&R. However, I have long since said that if he were to create/launch his own soap, I think it would do well. For me, "The Family That Prey's" was everything I need in a soap. Fighting, love, betrayal, cheating, friendship, illness, death, topped off with superb acting. And now that Tyler is reportedly starting his own cable network, I wouldn't be surprised if a new soap or two pops up over there, even if it's just an ode to his mother, who was a huge soap fan.

Never has putting on a cheap wig and dress done so much for one Black man. Bert Williams would be proud.

True, I think he actually would have worked better on a P & G soap, especially GL...(I can imagine what he would have done with Aunt Meta, kicking ass and taking names in the Bauer kitchen) which could be over the top and campy but with a really corny (and I mean that as a good thing) family sentimental feeling in between all the sex, lies and corporate take overs. Y & R is a little too, (or was) cold and classy for him.

I would have loved to have seen his version of that Gilly/Griffin fiasco.
