August 30, 201114 yr Member The Kardashian family are treated as reality royalty. They are the leading family in American reality television pop culture. They have a plan to take over the world The show has always had hasbeens who's claim to fame is a distant memory. tHIS IS NO DIFFERENT I do think it's different, because reality people are mostly about what is current - they aren't exactly casting Heather from Real World New York (although I wish they would). They've already had Hills people and it's not like there was a big demand for more. If they are just looking for a spot to fill I'd rather see some old random name from the 80's or 90's. I don't think there's such a thing as "reality royalty" because reality stars are fleeting. Only a few years ago the only thing people knew about that family was OJ and a sex tape. I don't remember them calling Kelly Osbourne that when she was on the show (although they may have - all the PR stuff blurs together for me).
August 30, 201114 yr Member LOVE this list... can't wait for this season! Much better than last season. Can't wait to see Nancy, Ricki, Chaz (LOL!), and JR.
August 30, 201114 yr Member I actually think thats a solid list if true. The only ones I had to google were Hope (still have no idea who she is) Elizabeth and Ryan You never watched love Story? Or Peyton Place? Ryan's become a mess since the 80s really, but he was a huge heart throb. (Actually I did like him on Alicia Silverstone's flop Miss match).

August 30, 201114 yr Member He did a few movies wqith Babs too (three or so I think)--in the 70s he actually was poised to be a massive star.

Kelly Osborne and her family have alot more going for them than their reality show (which was over years before she appeared). She's a singer and an entertainment personality and I dont remember what she was promoted as but it would have made more sense to go for that than reality royalty
August 30, 201114 yr Member So do you guys watch simply for the "stars" or is at the point where you want to see the pro dancers just as much? I kinda fall into that category. However, I was just thinking that the show hasn't really cultivated any "replacements" for the pros. They always seem to bring in a few new ones who don't really catch on, even though I liked them (Jesse DeSoto, Pamela Anderson's pro partner, his name slips me). I'm sure they will move on at some point. I did read that Maks' brother Val will be on and so will Tristan McManus, the Irish dancer who was in the DWTS Troupe.

They are just as popular, if not more popular than some of the celebs they are paired up with. I get upset when I see dancers put with people I dislike bc I root for and want to see certai dancers go far. Maks, Mark, Julianna and Lacey for example are always among my favorites to want to watch and I hope they are put with people I like whenever they are on
August 30, 201114 yr Member I watch mostly for the pros. I never understand why some aren't brought back, like Marlee Matlin's partner, who was adorable. I don't care that much about Maks' brother, who in spite of multiple appearances over the years just strikes me as someone who needs a bath. In recent years the manipulation and abusive behavior by the judges has become so overt that I can never stomach an entire season, even when my favorite pros, like Kym Johnson, do well. The show has become toxic.

August 31, 201114 yr Member Not much to care about with that group. Looks like they want Anna out early again. I hope she makes it work.
August 31, 201114 yr Member Wow, Derek and Ricki? LOL. What odd pairings! Nice to see a few new pros thrown in. Weren't all three from the Troupe? I know Tristan and Peta were. I don't know if Maks brother was a part of that or not.
