Ok how did David use Griffin?

Every conversation except Angie and Maya and Dixie has been about David.

This is so contrived. Dixie sees Liza yesterday, a character who Dixie is closely tied to, good or bad, and they don't even acknowledge each other. Then today, Dixie sees Angie post-mute phase.... and its like they are best friends, when to my knowledge, Dixie never really had anything to do with Angie. But it is nice to see some reactions, whether they are out of place or not.

Amanda used to play with JR and Jamie when they were all kids, so Dixie and Amanda's embrace makes sense. Also, Trevor, Dixie and Tad were pretty good friends. Dixie even tolerated Janet when her and Trevor married.
