It also means, if all the gossip is right, they do believe OLTL is in a better place right now and needs less work--so it's easier to quickly sign these deals. AMC, again if true, it's not nearly as much and more thought has to go into it (ie actors not wanting to sign till they know who's in charge and writing, etc--for OLTL actors, at this time it's basically implied that it'll be pretty much the same, so it's a much easier decision for actors to agree).

I know some people are worried/excited about the thought that PP is focusing on OLTL "over" AMC. But as somebody whose "loyalties" are well documented on this board, I can say that I'm not upset. If it's true that PP has decided to focus their time, energy and money on OLTL, I don't think that costs AMC anything. In fact, I think it benefits AMC.

Let's imagine that PP chooses to launch OLTL in January and "table" AMC. If OLTL is wildly successful that only increases the motivation to launch AMC. If OLTL flames out, then they're they ones who get raked over the coals and no one gets to write the "Is the Webby the new version of the Daytime Emmy??!!" headlines.

So even though it's not my show, I want PP to focus all their attention on OLTL and I call on my fellow AMC fans to support them. OLTL's success is good for all of us. Even the PGP fans. Who knows? Maybe we can resurrect other shows.

While I basically agree with all of this, I do think it would be smarter to launch both at once--I think two shows will bring more people, and even get AMC fans who don't watch OLTL to watch OLTL and vice versa, as well as starting off the Online Network with more than just one show. As a package they feel a lot stronger to me (I even wonder if just one of the soaps had been canceled, if PP would have picked it up).

It does seem like alot of AMC actors are hesitating, yet OLTL actors seem to be jumping on this

I think a lot is burnout to be honest and upheaval in their lives and having been lied to. Plus I dont think people like Budig and Minshew are really that interested and I don't think those that still live in NY like TK or Minshew want to continue to commute extensively.

The OLTL actors have fewer options. Sorry but it's true. In fact I dare say that with the exception of Sean Ringgold and Ted King, none of the OLTL actors who have signed with PP have anything approaching viable TV/film careers. They are pretty much the TV equivalents of Walmart greeters. I'm not saying it's right. In a just world Jerry Ver Dorn would be turning away offers but it's no different than noting that Chrishell Stause's perky boobs are an asset for her: reality isn't optional.

ITA with all of this. I'm just saying that if PP decides to play favorites that's not necessarily bad for AMC. Somewhere in the last couple of years a group of OLTL fans decided to buy into the red-headed stepchild bullshit propagated by "bloggers with agendas." I'm hoping that those of us who still want the best for AMC won't fall into that same trap. Come January, Viki Buchanan's success is also good for Erica Kane and I'm willing to bet SuLu wants nothing but the best for Slezak.

Yes, definitely--and I can see it being an easy trap for fans to fall into, but you're precisely right. And it is true--as some OLTL fans actually said back when there was speculation AMC would go online immediately after the finale, there is something to be said for whichever show airs later learning from some of the sure to be bumps and bruises here will be when going online.

I was surprised to read earlier that Josh Kelley - who has worked a fair amount in primetime and has a pilot for MTV - said he wants to do that and try to do PP. If that does happen I wonder if it will mean other actors would also be allowed to do outside projects. That may get more AMC people.

He's young, his boobs are still perky happy.png and he can still take risks with his career. More power to him.

True. I was just thinking of the rumors that PP would only want actors to do projects for PP-owned shows. If that turns out not to be true then I think more actors would be interested.

OLTL's success will be great for AMC and the success of either show will make it that much more possible that PP will develop a new soap. It's a win/win.

So, who's in for OLTL? (not speculation...but a done deal)

I've only heard so far about

Michael Easton (yay! McBain!)

Erica Slezak

Kassie DePaiva

Sean Ringold

Ted King

I've heard speculations on

Melissa Archer

Jerry verDorn

Who else is a done deal.

  • Member

ErikaSlezak, Michael Easton, Kassie DePaiva, Ted King, Melissa Archer, Jerry Ver Dorn, Kelly Missal, Andrew Trischetta, and Sean Ringgold are all done deals,

Hey Carl, could you tell me where you read the info on Josh Kelly?

Hmm, since Shane knows Jack was the catalyst in his mother's death, I don't think Shane would ever want to "shack" up with him.

That list is so damn random, lol. What are these people doing? Hitting up actors outside the studio on their lunch breaks?

SHUT UP! SHACK IS MAGIC YOU HATER!
