Oh that's not what I'm saying. I guess what I'm asking is does it feel more like the same show if you have few similar faces and a mass tragedy that the town is recovering from. Or a lot of different actors in highly emotional storylines? This is asking from a business standpoint. Would PP rather they set up something like this and go the emotional route that allows for simple recasts or the mass tragedy route where they can have some MIA for awhile, and the fewer familiar faces we see, could be dealing with the drama.

If you want to keep an audience, which is the smarter route?

Like Passions did, I would simply write off some of the more popular characters who would be difficult to recast. Then recast two or three that you consider vital to certain families. Honestly, I would consider recasting Angie or simply have her break up with Jesse so he could continue on the show. I'd also recast Amanda or Jake, but not both because I hate when they recast the entire couple. And of course there are always new characters or actors who've left AMC who might wanna return.

But can you do all those recasts at the same time? I'm likely not going to be watching, simply because I don't foresee there being an intentional license that will allow me to watch in the UK, but I really do wonder how the audience would handle a new format as well as a bunch (majority maybe) of new faces at the same time?

I see what you are saying and yeah it makes sense. BUt then IMO I think AMC like the previous poster said needs to focus on retaining 4 or 5 actors they see as key to the show. For me that would be Erica, Angie, Adam/JR, David, Tad and I would try to get Eden Reigel back. Now that said, Debbi will be gone, so will Jacob, Adam Chandler IMO they need if they intend to keep Colby and Scott around so he is needed. David is needed with Debbi gone and I say Tad but I think MEK is leaving. So thats Erica, Adam, David and ERs Bianca. Those are the players and families the show is centered around. Other than these people, I think everyone else is recastable. And if they can pull in some other named actors/actresses to fill in some of the other roles they feel are key I think they will be fine.

You don't have to set up a cliffhanger for every character, just certain characters and let the ripple effects do their work. For example killing JR sets up issues for Minx if all of a sudden Dixie decides to kidnap AJ and leave PV. David and Angie have sex and Liza walks in on them. Kendall decides to sell her shares of Fusion to...I don't care.. and leave PV.

I think most of these cliffhangers will take the form of "Should I stay or should I go?"

im betting it ends at some big party w/ a explosion.

that way whoever doesnt come/get recasted is dead and gone.

so lame. id rather have a real finale, cuz this is a finale lets face it... then, when newAMC launches jump forrd a year to explain missing ppl, some via flashback if they will appear in a few episodes.

^No, Agnes said it wouldn't be a natural disaster. People are using that say to rule out bombs, fire, guns, etc. Yeah, that's not really her style either, but I really do wonder because they know they have to make room for what could be the loss of several major players.

I'm hoping that one of those emotional cliffhangers is Jesse finding a letter from Angie that she needs to go away and think for a little while and heal herself. I'd like to see a few of the women on this show walk away with their dignity and self-respect. Obviously that's impossible for Greenlee, Kendall, Dixie or Krystal but Cara is still salvagable if she gets away from David, Madison looks like she's going to get a happy ending with Scott and if she'll stop dressing like a waitress in a science fiction strip club she'll be okay and Binks and Marissa are in good shape by standing up to J.R.'s blackmail.

If Erica and Angie both exit by putting themselves and their well-being first instead of having their experiences of the last few months ignored in the service of their individual couples, I would find that a satisfying ending for two amazing women. Not necessarily a happy one but one emotionally true to the characters that leaves a little room "to be continued" on screen later or not.

You know whats funny when I started listing out who I felt(and thats me) was important from a canvas perspective and how it related to how the canvas is split the only characters that seemed really key are Erica because she sort of solidifies the Kane women and that end, JR/Adam because they sort of center that part of the canvas although I don't think JR/JY is really a strong enough character or presence, and Angie for the hospital and with her gone maybe DAvid although I would still love for this to be Cara and Frankie. Zach, Greenlee, Ryan the airhogs on this show for years aren't really key to keeping the canvas in tact and Kendall well there is a character that needs a break and I don't even think this current incarnation is that important. She's more defined by Zach than she is as ERica's daughter

Amc doing a life or death cliffhanger would be something of a joke when they have spent the last 2 months on zombies & resurrections.

I personall would be ok with a moldovian wedding type cliffhanger but if no one dies in PV, where exactly is the cliffhanger?
