Fans were shocked this spring when ABC announced the cancellation of long-running soap "All My Children," but no one was more shocked than the reigning daytime queen, Susan Lucci. "Maybe I was the last to know," she tells Access at the Daytime Emmys. "I don't know, but I was surprised. Sad of course."

The mood on the set of the show hasn't changed, she says. "If you came to the studio you'd never know anything happened because everybody's just cooking on all speeds!" The cast and crew of the show are determined to go out on a high note for the fans, who Lucci says have been "so on fire" since the plug was pulled.

Lucci says she hasn't gotten any details about how the soap will take its final bow, but she's not worried. "You know, all I know is that we're in the best of hands," she says. "However it's going to end it's going to be fantastic. I think, probably like all great novels, it ends with you wondering what happens next. That's what I'm going to guess but I don't know what the details are."

As for post "All My Children" plan, Lucci confirms the rumors that she may be stopping by Wisteria Lane to join the ladies of "Desperate Housewives." "Talking, listening, we'll see," she teases. "There's been a lot of talking, but we'll see. It's a show I like very much, of course. The cast is amazing; Marc Cherry is amazing."

It would be nice if she went to DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES. They seem like a good fit. But March Cherry is amazing? Please. The guy probably won't write for her just like he hasn't written for anyone since, what? Season 4?

Wow, that's surprising. I wonder if she'd join as a regular or just do a recurring arc. I'd love to see her be the new mystery character for the final season, whenever that is.

I hope she doesnt join the show. We dont need more bad acting on DH. I still cringe just thinking about her primetime stint on Dallas.

Zap2it is confirming it in their editorializing, but her quotes don't exactly sound like a confirmation. They even use the words "may be."

I'm not saying that it won't happen... but it's interesting that they choose to run with an article that says "confirm" and then follows it with "may."

Is Susan Lucci moving from Pine Valley to Wisteria Lane?

The All My Children alum says she's been talking to Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry about joining the prime-time soap.

"There's been a lot of talking, but we'll see," she told Access Hollywood at the Daytime Emmys. "It's a show I like very much, of course. The cast is amazing. Marc Cherry is amazing."

ABC sets date of All My Children's final episode

For now, Lucci is focusing on All My Children's final weeks. The long-running soap will bow out Friday, Sept. 23, and the cast and crew are "cooking on all speeds" to ensure that the show goes out on a high note. The actress, however, has no idea how the soap will end.

"You know, all I know is that we're in the best of hands," she said. "However it's going to end, it's going to be fantastic. I think, probably like all great novels, it ends with you wondering what happens next. That's what I'm going to guess, but I don't know what the details are."

I would love go see her on DH. But I don't think it's going to happen. I think that it would be smart if Suzanne Martin, the creator of Hot in Cleveland, spunoff Susan Lucci's "character" into her own sitcom on TV Land.

I think they're getting those Susan quotes from this interview she did with Access Hollywood recently on the red carpet. I saw it late last night (after clicking on Susan Lucci's name trending at #1 on Yahoo).

I want her to finally get a regular comedy job. Her and Morgan Fairchild have ached to do comedy their whole careers. The two of them headlining a sitcom for (ugh, as much as I hate it) TV Land would be fun as hell. They can be a widow and a mistress who take over the running of a company, sort of like a sitcom version of Nora/Holly from Brothers & Sisters.

airing right after the Joan Collins/Robert Wagner sitcom
