Interesting fact for the TRIVIA NERDS out there:

We know have the exact dates for James E. Reilly's stint as consultant on B&B. No idea if he ever really consulted or Bill Bell used any idea of his or if it was just a Network deal with CBS that paid him some money!

Reilly's tenure as "consultant" was rather brief and lasted from # 773 (April 24, 1990) - # 859 (August 22, 1990).

As always: Thanks to the mysterious uploader for providing the classic episodes with closing titles.

Was he also not consulting for Y&R at the time? I have heard rumblings that their Marge story was, to some degree, something Reilly cooked up. And indeed, when you think about it, it definitely reads as something he'd do.

I'd also be curious to know, considering I'm decidedly less versed in B&B history, if any Reillyisms snuck into B&B during the brief consulting stint, or if it wasn't particularly noticeable.

We have seen Y&R credits from the same time than his B&B stint and we was also credited as "consultant" there as well. I don't think Bill Bell used anything on B&B. I cannot pinpoint a single story from April-July that looked like Reilly.

Then again, Anne Schoettle (who is amrried to David Shaughnessy I think) was also serving as coslutant on Y&R back then. I'd always assumed that these consultant psoitions were either payback for being a scab writer during the 1988 writers strike or part of a Network deal theese writers scored.

    • Surely you are exaggerating-there must have been several mentions of Abbott Communications.
    • I thought she started to deal with medical issues that ultimately caused her death in 1994? Not sure but I thought I had read that she battled illness for quite a few years. Perhaps it started when she decided to leave the show? She was so fantastic. I will say that she and David Forsyth worked so well together; it was the only reason I watched Mayer's five months of storylines.  Thanks for posting all these SFT episodes. Boy, the Nicholson/Mayer time was a mess of some positives but mostly negative. I wonder if Mayer was hired by Ellen Barrett (or if P&G tried to get Labine and Mayer although I doubt the budget would have allowed for both) then she was let go for some reason; and/or if Erwin had months left on his contract with P&G after EON was cancelled and they placed him there before he retired. Losing Sheri then Lisa Peluso was the death knell for this struggling show. Mayer's circus story was inane.  Casting Michelle Joyner big miss; she was awful as was (and always after) John Loprieno. I don't know how that guy stayed employed on soaps for so many years. The positives were Joe Lambie, Lee Godart.  Louann Gideon was lovely but completely miscast as Liza.  Mayer fired four scriptwriters, only keeping Nancy Williams who went on to great work at GL for a decade then Passions.

Not her getting sad over the Febreze!
    • Today when Anita and Vernon were talking about Bill, they referenced whatever mystery thing he covered up.  This time, with how they worded it, it seemed to be a cover-up about *them*.  So now I wonder if it was something else *in addition* to the Martin secret.
    • She really got to me today. She's doing a great job making Eva a character you just can't help but root for.
    • "Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas" There, I summed up today's episode.
    • O'Connor was listed as both breakdown and scriptwriter this week in the few episodes I saw and he wrote one script this week.
