About OLTL.....ABC has all the episodes from 1976!!! They preserved the tapes in that year....and if you watch this youtube video ( at second 13), you can watch at the beginning several tapes from 1976, all the tapes are labelled with the episode number and the year 1976!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, and the rest is there!!! Episodes 2102, 2103, 2104, 2105, 2106.....

And vetsoapfan....which classic episodes did you record at the time? Any classic OLTL? Thanks

Wow, what an excellent catch. That matches up with what we've always heard about Agnes wanting them to start saving the episodes just prior to her taking AMC to the hour. I believe that particular episode was OLTL was originally 45 minutes long, right? Maybe they started saving before they expanded GH and OLTL.

It makes you wonder why they never dug any of those up whenever they did those marathons before AMC and OLTL left ABC. You'd at least expect them to show that edited version of Kevin's birth again (or maybe air it at its original length in tandem with another 45-minute episode).

I recorded many different soaps, and yes, including OLTL.

In the above clip from 1976, who is playing the older doctor (Dr. Hodges, I presume)?

What was your opinion of Jordan Charney as Vinnie #2?

  • Member

In the OLTL clip, that is Cec Linder as Dr. Thornley, briefly seen with Jim Craig. Linder appeared on OLTL in 1976.

Jordan Charney tried hard as Vinnie, but he did not naturally fit well in the role. He always felt forced.

Yes, now I recognize Cec Linder.   I felt the same way about Mr. Charney.  But accepting Lee Lawson as Wanda #2 was much harder for me.

Can anyone shed light on Petronia Paley's  character Harriet Johnson (1978-79)? She was on for nine months.

I didn't even know that Petronia was on OLTL.

Was she the selfish, annoying woman who temporarily got involved with Ed Hall when Carla was involved with that repugnant Jack Scott? I loathed her. She was not nearly good enough for our Ed.

I don't know if she's the same character you're talking about, but Marie Thomas (Lauri James Iverson, The Doctors, 1972-1975) was on OLTL in 1978 as Diana, who became involved with Ed.

The only character that I remember with Ed is the character that Felicia Rashad played.   I cannot remember the character's name.  That was around 1984.

It did seem that he and Karen Woleck were getting chummy when they both lived at Ina Hopkins' boarding house.   When Judith Light presented Mr. Freeman his Daytime Emmy award, she asked allowed, "Are we allowed to kiss now?"

Her character was named Courtney Wright, and was on OLTL from 1983-84.

The black woman I am thinking about appeared in the late 1970s.

You may be thinking of Diana, who was played in 1978 by The Doctors alum Marie Thomas (Lauri James Iverson, 1972-75). I don't know if he had any other love interests at that time, because I believe Carla and Ed were always meant to be endgame.
