Frankly, it wouldn't have surprised me one bit to learn Irene Manning had actually killed Victor. Just imagine, too, if Dorian had discovered that little nugget of information.

It wasn't some dramatic, tearful confession, but she did say, "I killed your father, Victor Lord" and Viki just brushed her off. Robin has always maintained that Dorian did it and I wondered if this was a little gift to her from RC that could easily be worked around... Just as easily as Viki dismissed the claim.

OLTL trying to make a mystery out of who was Viki's daughter, Sarah or Megan was so stupid considering they were different ages! Only one of them could have been born when Viki was 18 and that was the older one, duh! That storyline seemed like todays type of writing

The whole thing was a little dumb. I think viewers just went along because they loved both Megan and Sarah and wanted to see the conflict with Viki.

Rauch seemed to really throw new characters in without build up. When it didn't work, it didn't work, but when it did, the characters became hugely popular.

And when Viki brought up the fact to her that neither of them did bc he came back in 2003, Dorian just said "if it really was him". She never saw him then so wouldnt have been able to assess if that was Victor or not. I thought it was vauge as nothnig was clairifed in that episode. I dont see why any of this was even brought up as it went nowhere

If the writers really wanted to do something with this, they could have revealed that the man was actually Victor's brother. This could have been the springboard to bringing on new Lords as he could have had kids/grandkids

Richard Abott was the son of Victor's sister Gwendolyn Abbott.

Powell Lord was the grandson (or possibly son) of the brother of Victor.

I would not want to see other Lord relatives until all of the ones we know about were used. Dr. Dan Wolek was wasted so during the final decade. Tina also had two children who were not used to their fullest.

Viki saw him, though, and she assessed that he was. Of course, as we know by now, physical resemblance alone means nothing in these situations, and they could explain it away by saying he underwent surgery to look like Victor.

    • Thanks!   Was anyone watching during this time? Wondering how Peggy’s rape played out onscreen. It just seems cruel to subject the Brooks family to this trauma a 2nd time.   Feels like the writers have already given up on the character of Jennifer, even though she sticks around another year-plus. She should be a passionate and fierce protective mother, but instead she seems just reactionary (and not even mentioned in this recap) This was also the case in ‘73 when Chris was raped. The writers are definitely more invested Stuart as the Brooks parent.
    • BTG got another SNL reference at 00:50  CONTEXT (so it isn't misconstrued) in this joke swap segment, Michael Che frequently makes his white cohost Colin Jost read racist jokes written by Che.

    • It's obvious that Israel's presence is a major divisive issue, and this is something that the EBU needs to deal with. According to the now published results Israel got 13 out of a possible 19 max points in the semi-final, and while their song isn't bad there's no way they would get those numbers without some kind of manipulation/political voting. They are clearly using this contest as a way of improving their somewhat tarnished reputation. I know that some people are comparing this to the massive sympathy votes that Ukraine gets and which propelled them to victory in 2022, but I feel that that was a more genuine show of support than this concerted effort from Israel to influence the televoting. I even had an ad on Youtube from Israel in Swedish(!) asking for votes! It might not be against any rules, but it feels a bit icky nonetheless.
    • Yeah, as you wrote, an Israeli win would have been a political disaster. Congratulations to Austria. 0 points from the televoting to Switzerland was a disgrace. Other than that, I really enjoyed the show ... but I'm also glad that Eurovision season is over

    • Hahaha Sorry if I was too negative, I just started typing and typing once I got going hahaha
    • @dc11786 Thanks for taking time to answer my various questions, along with giving your thoughts on the different writing teams. I wonder why they didn't just have Ryder and TR leave together if Jane was going anyway. The discussions over the last few pages have made me more interested in watching these episodes than I have been over the years - without the extra details and analyses provided, these years can be difficult to decipher (not helped by how often Jo seems like a side character).
    • I didn't think this was very good (I've never yet seen a good episode of this revival), but you do get a lot of Michael Stroka. And if you are a Donna Reed Show fan, you also get Paul Petersen.
