Did you know a few years before her return to OLTL, Robin had a recurring role on Knots Landing? Can’t find much on YT but here’s a brief glimpse of her at 0:47

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXqU1HFCI78

This was in later years of Knots, when it was past its prime. The writers drained all the life out of her! Her character Dianne, a tv producer, was a real stick-in-the-mud. She existed only as an antagonist/obstacle for the show’s long-time heroine Karen.

I’m sure Robin was thrilled to be back in the role of Dorian, where she could display her full range of talents.

Wow, I had no idea about this! Thanks for letting me know and for sharing that clip - she totally looks like Dorian Lord in it! (Not that I expected anything that different) But the hair is almost identical, just a bit more relaxed, which suits her as well. I just don't want it straight... ever. I'm definitely adding this to my list of reasons to watch Knots Landing - I recorded the entire series when it was on some primetime channel online... that was months ago. Even though I know it's on streaming, I really wanted to have it recorded with the subtitles and just couldn't trust these platforms if they will keep it or remove it, since they do it every other week. Which season does she show up in?

Beautiful and romantic is a good way to describe them. The women were allowed to have more complex inner lives and feelings and yet we could also aspire to their world. As the '80s go along the women become more like cardboard cutouts, with a few exceptions, but we see some glimmers of that era again here.

I was recently watching an episode from 1980... Dorian was flirting with Clint... (their chemistry was incredible) and at one point, I completely lost track of time as the scene went on and on. When it finally ended, I realized just how LONG it was. I also realized how this allowed me to immerse myself in the characters' world, almost adapt to it. Dorian appears to have a bright future ahead of her, she's likable and her scheming is a note more subtle. This makes it seem more dangerous. I hope to see more of these "glimmers" as you wonderfully put it. Malone has shown me he can write and maintain complex characters, despite some missteps like Tina and Alex (which they are still trying to figure out). Maybe I'm being too optimistic... we'll see. 🙂

Oh wow, are you in for a treat! Can't wait for you to start watching someday, and sharing your thoughts on the Knots thread. RS appeared in season 11, 1990 (and a couple appearances later in 1990 in season 12).
