But the heart of the show was back and a sense of fun was there, and that improved morale for people tremendously post-JFP so we forgave a lot. Even the day to day writing was really pretty poor.

It's the ultimate irony that a rapist became the lead and "hero", when the victim's story was the most fascinating tale on daytime AND primetime TV. Marty and ultimately the audience deserved better.
October 15, 20214 yr Member The post-Edwina and Marco wedding episode posted, including Pat and Bo in Paris. Jacqueline Courtney looks stunning in the still, I'll take what I can get, but would love to see the Gothic side to the Paris shoot. I always thought Carla felt some type of way about Karen due to Karen/Ed so it was nice to see another side to their friendship, I guess.

Viewers were so lucky back then to have so many stellar actresses in the cast (Slezak, Courtney, Holly, Light, etc.), as well as excellent actors like Gerald Anthony. I'll never get tired watching vintage classics like this.

October 17, 20214 yr Member I loved, loved, loved the over the top Rauch years but outside of Tina/Cord/Clint/Viki a lot of other things were hit or miss and grounding the rest of the show with Ed/Carla/Josh (weren't Josh and Danny supposed to be friends? But the casting for the two seemed off in the 1986 episodes I have seen) and Wanda/Larry/Danny would have worked better IMO and there would have been more to rely on once the show fell apart in 1990 with nothing to rely on BUT they did exhaust poor Larry and Danny with that Brenda story (of what I have seen)

Rauch ultimately decimated (or further decimated) the once-great AW, OLTL and TGL, and his work on Texas, SB and Lovers & Friends was a failure as well. IMHO, he was a destructive producer who reputation was undeserved.

True, but Rauch made the ending even more putrid than it needed to be. 2 hours ago, victoria foxton said: I finally saw the two episodes from 1980. They were awesome. The show was still on a high that year, although I'd say that 1979 was the zenith..
