My thoughts exactly! Five-day-a-week scripted series should have never gone to 60 minutes in the first place.

So long as we get good writing, and decent production values, I'd be all for half hour reboots. IMO, General Hospital should also be slashed to 30 minutes given the subpar content they've been dishing out lately.

AMC , OLTL, GH and Oprah was the ultimate line up on my local ABC station!!! Those were the days.

I have the All About Erica VHS and there's a clip of Erica (complete with disco whistle) and company (including Mona and Dr. Tyler) gettin' down on the disco 'round. I just hate that it's copyright cleared music, I would love to know which song they were really grooving to.

And thank you Carl!

Ooooh, and it's on YouTube. Let me go get cozy and spend the evening reminiscing with my girl!

There's a clip from her interview with Dick! "I mean, there's nothing wrong with our little community, you understand. The people there, they are really the salt of the Earth, you know? They're really hard-working and well-meaning. It's just that...well, they're middle class."

This thing has so many clips from the first decade that I've never seen before! I had no idea what I was sleeping on. It's so nice to see more of the Erica/Nick relationship - I'd only ever seen Mona walking in on them and then Nick giving her his final kiss-off. What a volatile match they were, especially since their mutual dislike of one another had to have been simmering for years by the time they actually got together.

I say it all the time, but look, I'm just gonna say it again. I WANT MORE OF THIS SHT.

Lord, they even have some Erica vs. Sara Kingsley in this. I'm outdone.

I just want to add that I was Christmas gifted All About Erica and the 25th anniversary book by two lovely girls who had major high school crushes on me.

That soap special that aired a couple months ago borrowed quite a bit from that YouTube upload of AAE.

HamiltonBernique is one of the old guard AMC/OLTL channels! I'm very thankful it's been up for as long as it has been, because watching all of those 1983-1985 episodes/clips of the show really solidified my love for it.

Meanwhile, I took a break from 1989 for a while to watch other things and finally came back to it, and the show is just so stale[ at this time. I'll share more thoughts as I keep going, but I'm finally seeing what the press at the time meant about the show being outdated and desperately in need of some sprucing up. It's strange, because most of the frontburner characters had been on for less than 5 years, but their stories were either a rehash of something that had already been done (Palmer's obsession with controlling Melanie) or something that just really did not fit the show (Marissa's super secret agent sht). That strong, strong sense of community from the early/mid 80s is also gone - you can tell they were trying to bring it back (all of a sudden, Natalie, Angie, and Donna are BFFs who exercise together!), but everything feels so aimless.

And the fact that Erica and Brooke were nominated alongside the first female astronaut to walk the moon.  Oh lawd.

"I will not have her piggy little face on the cover of my magazine." Getting scenes like this must have been like vacation at work for Susan, an absolute ball.

While I have lots of early childhood Pine Valley memories, I don't recall how Erica and Palmer first bonded and got so close. Anyone?

OMG! I just realized that I may have led you astray. No harm no foul as you got to visit with Urrica irregardless. But I think the disco scene I'm remembering is actually a flashback from the week of 25th anniversary episodes.

Good question.  I think I actually watched a video the other day with one of the earlier Erica/Palmer interactions, but I can't remember the specifics.  I'll have to find it again and share.  Going down another rabbit hole....

    • Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.
    • Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.
    • Maybe I'm still in denial, but nothing about Neighbours' ongoing social media output gives the vibe of a show that's ending. In today's 'Roundup' video, Alan Fletcher referenced that production finishes in five weeks, but in all the show's posts the cast are as jovial and lighthearted as ever. Remarkably so for people who are about to lose their jobs.    Perhaps they're just putting a brave face on things, and I know they approached the previous axing with a positive attitude. Maybe putting an upbeat face on things is a collective way of showing potential backers that there's still life in the show? Or is it possible that they already know the show has been saved, and we'll get an announcement next month when filming wraps and the show 'rests'?   Does any of that make sense?!
    • A very good week for male eye candy on GH. New Michael is beautiful, Curtis's arms looked great in that polo shirt, Cody looks even more handsome with his new haircut AND we got Marco in swim shorts rocking his lovely bod and chest fur.

    • Yeah when Jamey Giddens did breakdowns for DAYS, he would sometimes state in tweets that specific things were his idea that he had pitched to Ron.
    • I don't, since they've clearly incorporated them into Tomas' storyline, and I happen to like his tattoos, but his jackets not fitting doesn't mean they're trying to cover his tattoos. The clothing overall isn't the issue; it's the fit. And I expect(ed) more from Jeresa Featherstone and her team. Very disappointed. He's the only male, overall, whose costume irritates me.
    • "And OMG, watching the scenes of Roger's return in comparison...the quality in the writing really nosedived. The stupid mask." Very much agreed.  Having Roger hide behind a mask for weeks/months, with it culminating with him swinging in on a vine at Blake/Phillip's wedding....geez.  So juvenile. IMO, Guiding Light never did a good job reintroducing major characters, either from the dead or elsewhere.  Masked balls = awful.  Amish = awful. When Reva was brought back from the dead, she should've just showed up in Springfield as Reva, and informed everyone that she had been gone for years because she felt like it.  She had a four-year fling with some dude who ended up dumping her due to disloyalty. Josh would be pissed and declare that their love is not *always* but *sometimes* and he'd act accordingly.  Her kids would hate her.
    • Agreed. The Emmys next year are gonna be a pretty tough competition and I hope we get a Days sweep lol  Not only does Deidre deserve a nomination for these last few weeks, but I also think Paul Telfer, Raven Bowens, Carson Boatman, Dan Feuerriegel and Alison Sweeney have good chances as well.
    • It’s not about a lack of faith and trust in MVJ, it’s about a a lack of faith and trust in Ron Carlivati, who I think can be very sneaky and manipulative when he wants to be.  And, all that “He’s just a breakdown writer” talk never changed my mind about anything, because at Days, it was “just a breakdown writer” that gave us some of the worst episodes I’ve ever seen.
