I had time for the silly vocal song used on the PP show because it was the best soap of the 2010s (period!!), but you're never going to improve on the classic AMC theme and the new show shouldn't try. Just update it again like they did in the 2000s.

Thanks for sharing, Forever8! I originally posted that audio on YouTube, ripped from another source, so it's nice to see people appreciating it.

All four of the basic AMC themes (including 2013) were great, IMO. I know the David Benoit composition from the late 90s/early 00s isn't a favorite for most, but I always thought it had more of a "classic AMC" feel than the Barber/Israel theme.

What set AMC apart imo was its odd mix of themes. They would tackle some Douglas Sirk family melodrama, lighthearted teen romance, serious social issue drama, Comedy and a gothic mystery happening in all one episode. I always thought of AMC as the unconventional soap. Full of quirky characters (Billy Clyde), unusual characters (Noah), every storyline had heart, every character was connected to an major family. The show doesn’t start relying on all the soap tricks into the 90s and nothing too dark happens until the late 90s and early 2000s. And if one soap was all about women and their struggles it was AMC, almost every major female was career driven.

Agree.  At its' peak, AMC was a show that had a "little something" for just about everyone.  Sometimes, the mix was a tad unwieldy; but when it worked, it was a breathtaking show to watch.

What I remember (again, I started watching in the early 90’s) was Pine Valley felt like a place, a real community.  Everybody wasn’t rich or famous like Erica or Adam, and lots of characters had a real sense of integrity.

Watching the clip posted about Michael and Kevin coming out really reminded me of that community sense.  Stories and characters were connected but also had their own stories going on, with great supporting characters tying it all together.

    • No. When he tried to blow up half the world As for when Andrew was kidnapped, Dimitri would reveal, during his tearful plea for Andrew's love, that it was Megan who put him up to it, and that deep down, he didn't want to hurt the true love of his life

    • Hmmmm....your Chandler Massey? You mean when Dimitri tied up Andrew?
    • Per today's developing L.A. situation, I will let someone else cover it. I am not out there because of my recent physical situation (though I'd like to be) but I'm perfectly safe. Honestly I expect it'll go as poorly for the administration as it's already beginning to, and good for the people who can be out there fighting but we've been here before. Charlottesville was an atrocity that should've ended a presidency and didn't, and now Trump in like Flynn and his second term is less than six months in. My general pragmatism has curdled into something entirely more fatalistic in recent months. I have no expectation for this changing anything materially about our larger situation, I just hope a lot of people don't die. And if it shackles or trips up the administration for awhile re: its fascist policies or actions, great.

    • I remembered this as well, so I was surprised that Tomas didn't seen to know what Eva was talking about.  I would be happy for them to go their separate ways and get help for their own addictions.
    • I admit it. Peter Porte is my Chandler Massey  And, because his previous storyline was just so gross and disgusting and poorly written, I feel the character and the actor deserve some redemption.  And what better storyline would there be then for it to be revealed that Dimitri and Andrew had a fling when he was in the ISA pretending to be Kyle Graham, and that Dimitri has returned to Salem to get Andrew, the true love of his life, back. I would even tie it in to what he tried to do in Beyond Salem, which a certain fired head writer basically wanted us to forget
    • You love your Dimitri. I wonder why.
    • A Will/Sonny/Paul/Andrew/Dimitri mess, in the aftermath of John's death. And if I was writing, Leo would've been dead and forgotten about already
