God. I was talking to my guy friend (not boyfriend...just a really close male friend...we tried the whole love thing. Didn't work for us) tonight, and he knows NOTHING of soaps. But, he's even pissed about it.

All through dinner I kept mentioning my favorite soap moments. Including my love for MEK. And, it made me realize something. I'M GONNA F'ING MISS THE HELL OUT OF THAT MAN!

It was bad enough not being able to see Trent Dawson (Henry, ATWT) on TV all the time. But, no MEK. Eff this!

I spent two hours last night talking about the demise of soaps with my non soaps loving sister. It was actually quite refreshing to get an outsiders opinion on things. I did find out she loved Marlena (which shocked me) and we ended up talking about B&B for like an hour:

My sister: "Why is it when I tune in, Taylor, Ridge and Brooke are having the same conversation they had 20 years ago?"

Her answer to soaps dying was: "Don't you think they just need a break?"

One down, many to go. MARISSA TASKER!

IF AMC has JR end up with Marissa TASKER, I will go crazy!

All jokes aside, I hope this cancellation news means that stars will open up about the ugly things that happen backstage. There must be TONS of skeletons that no one talk about bc they want to secure their jobs and place in this business but with the cancellation of both shows, what do they have to lose? Its not like they can be fired for spilling. I hope stars go off on Frons

In Chelsea's defense, it wasnt a swipe at Robin, but rather at OLTL for the ridiculous writing and direction that they give Dorian in terms of her pairing with David. With that, IA with Chelsea bc this scene was cringeworthy

As I said the other day I am a trained Top Chef but I don't watch cooking shows. Yes. But that at least has a story with it. Honestly just give me the damn recipe. I don't want to spend an hour watching someone cook food that I can't immediately eat. I'm still going to need the recipe to make whatever it is they make on a paticular episode. Seriously, save me a painful hour of my life and instead make a cookbook and put some pretty pictures in it that makes me want to cook your dish. Regardless, they move so fast you can't even follow along. However, I dig how they can put a dish in the oven and 5 seconds later it's done. Clever.

I grew up on the CBS shows and even ATWT more or less did the beautiful thing. Even the ill coma victims wore perfect make up. I do wonder if the focus on high production values has helped the Bell shows in terms of ratings? I don't buy the time slot issue and can't think of any other reason for Y&R's higher HH numbers.

On another topic, I'm wondering why OLTL got more time than AMC. I'm guessing this must come down to cost. OLTL almost has to much notice--not enough time to chart new stories yet too much time for a wrap up. Expecting a painful eight months. I give Frons credit for at least being honest here as opposed to Bloom over at CBS where they pretended ATWT had a chance after the cancellation of Guiding Light.

OLTL got more time because the show that is replacing it didn't look good when tptb reviewed it. They are giving that show a few more months to work out the kinks. This is what Micheal Logan meant, when he said that Frons was being very cold about the way that he was handling both shows. He doesn't care about giving them enough time to write an ending for both shows, he just wants them gone. I don't think ABC sees either replacement show as being revolutionary or longterm options, they just wanted to stop producing two soaps that have no growth potential, and that were costing them money.

I do agree with him though, how many cooking shows can there be on tv? I'm sick and tired of Jamie Oliver, Nigella,Gordon Ramsey etc telling me what to eat or how to boil an egg.

Lover her or hate her (I know most here hate her) Raven's little column up this morning is very enjoyable to read. I think she calls Anne Sweeney a little SPIDER! Supposedly two GH actors contacted her, and she claims that GH won't even get a year.

I suppose Frons really is the perfect henchman. Completely unemotional and could care less about destroying a genre. A soldier for ABC.

that pissed me off beyond belief. It was so lame how he cancelled the show while the cast was on hiatus adn didnt even invite them back to film a conclusion. That cliffhanger crap was such a disservice to fans.
