April 15, 201114 yr Member Precisely. It'd be different if no one knew about the cancellations. But we do and (groan) Frons is not out of a job. Whatev, Frons.
April 15, 201114 yr Member LOL! Hilarious, they got caught with their pants down, and now won't own up to it
April 16, 201114 yr Member Ha! Jamey: No, I asked her if it was copyright protected. She kept babbling incoherently. "it's our video! It's our video!" "It's our video!" So I kept asking, "Is it copyright protected? if so, put it in writing." Edited April 16, 201114 yr by wingwalker
April 16, 201114 yr Member Any clip from ET? I did capture most of it on a DVD, but I have absolutely no idea how to clip. Sorry. ET also talked about the reveal to the casts/crews being sort of insulting. The later segment was famous faces that started on AMC and OLTL: Sarah, Josh, Melissa, Ryan, etc. I guess we can add Jamey vs Frons to that thread of soap rivalries. According to Jamey he got a call from a Fron's PR guy demanding he take down his link to the leaked video of Frons telling AMC & OLTL they're canceled. The irony. If DC still has a copy and can legally keep it up, I hope that's just what they do.
April 16, 201114 yr Member I can't believe Disney is going to cite copyright on a video of their daytime president giving the axe to two long-running shows. I mean, what are they going to do w/ the video? Put it out on DVD and Blu-Ray?

April 16, 201114 yr Member Now we know why Frons never got fired, Sweeney just sat back and let him run the shows in the ground so she could cancel them.
April 16, 201114 yr Member GH is dead. TPTB tipped their hand when we found out Sweeny wanted to cancel it along with AMC and OLTL. I bet anything it goes out either fall 2012 or Spring 2013. IMO, Y&R will be the last one standing. B&B will ride it's coat tails for awhile perhaps. Pretty much.
April 16, 201114 yr Member You know, I almost wish the other shows would get canceled now, if only to put the "Last Soap Standing" discussions to rest. No offense, everyone, it's just depressing to think about. :-(
April 16, 201114 yr Member Really? Hysterical much. I'm trying to be tolerant and understand some of you are sad, but wth is your point? I happen to like Mario. He is a good chef and entertainer. How big of you. Now please take a look at the name of the website. Why a hater of soaps ever came here is beyond me.

No offense, everyone, it's just depressing to think about. :-( I used to be very sad about this, but then I realized, you can't feel sorry for an industry that gave up on helping itself over a decade ago. Everything needs to die to make a comeback. Soaps may indeed follow that in a few years time. Will it be the same as before? Probably not, but the soaps have failed for years at evolution anyway. I do agree, at this point I wish they were all canceled. They'll never attract many viewers anymore and will never be as good as before, so there's nothing left to lose. April 16, 201114 yr Member I wonder if we will have the daytime soap equivalent to TPIR, the outlier that is the only one airing on network television during the day.
April 16, 201114 yr Member Agnes Nixon speaks! Courtesy of ew.com http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/04/15/agnes-nixon-on-cancelled-abc-soaps-saddens-me-greatly/ Agnes Nixon released the following statement about the cancellation of All My Children and One Life to Live, the two soaps she created for ABC more than 40 years ago. “ABC’s decision to cancel All My Children and One Life to Live saddens me greatly,” the 83-year-old queen of daytime soaps said. “I treasure the decades that the worlds of Pine Valley and Llanview were brought to life by our talented casts and crews. I appreciate that the network allowed our teams to break new dramatic ground and always supported our commitment to the honest portrayal of social issues. We hope we have entertained our viewers and perhaps even educated them along the way. “My deep gratitude goes to all the talented people who have contributed to All My Children and One Life To Live over these many years; we were always family, made up of writers, producers, directors, actors, crews. Equally important in that family are our loyal fans who shared this journey with us. Although ABC has concluded there is no longer a place for our shows on their network, I will do everything possible to keep them alive. God bless you all.”
April 16, 201114 yr Member Very sweet statement...I love that she said "I will do everything possible to keep them alive."
