Upset about cancellation of shows that could mean so much to so many. WTF, yo? Sometimes change is good but this change just sucks.

I love her hip ass.

Wow, I was under the impression that he "Skype'd" with both casts live, I didn't realize that the news was delivered in a prepared, edited video. Kind of cowardly, he didn't have to "take questions" or hear their cries.

It looks like something ABC News would have prepared (who am I kidding, ABC News doesn't care about ABC Daytime that much). I get horny seeing The Hand That Opened the Book for Twenty Years just like everybody else, but why were those title cards just thrown on in there like that? Completely impersonal and very condescending. You tell the cast and crew that "women" don't want them anymore, they want "information and fun." Then you talk about how Agnes was able to educate with her shows while entertain. I just....can't. Not once making a mention of the real issue here -- the money. Ugh. Ugh. I guess Jack Frons's hairdresser upped his fees.

I guess it was restrained of him to not take a dump right in front of them. Then again, he's been doing that for 9 years.

Well, we don't know what he's sitting on in that video or what they really edited out during those fades-to-black. Though I like to believe he's sitting on one of these bad boys:

It's the AMC fans I really feel for. They have only a couple months left to shoot, a bunch of poor stories already in motion, and a clusterfuck behind the scenes. If Lorraine Broderick can salvage that in record time - unlikely with Julie Carruthers handling the logistics - she is a miracle worker. Say what you will about Ron Carlivati who has had many a lowlight since 2008, but he knows and loves that show and there has always been at least one story I enjoy; OLTL is, I feel, on a bit of an upswing again, and what's more they clearly began planning for the end and the end couples some time ago, even if the couples aren't always what I would want (John and Natalie - please no). I can believe they will bring back a lot of people and do their best to do right by them. I'm not too worried about us. It's AMC I fear for.

I think AMC's finale is going to make GL's look half-decent.

Watching last night's Craig Ferguson. After seeing him go off on CBS for canceling ATWT I had a feeling he would mention the cancellations right at the top of his monologue and he did. "The bastards have killed All My Children!". Love him!

I agree, LB is going to have to work miracles to wrap things up in just 4 months

This man is a liability to ABC Daytime. Not just soaps. It is horrible horrible PR for this man to behave so gleefully and as a result the "lifestyle" people who are taking over the timeslots have to go out and do damage control.

You see the ratings CBS has been getting after some of the smugness from Moonves.

They treat soap fans with contempt. They don't want soap fans watching their new shows IMO. They have spent years hoping soap fans just disappear.

I didn't realize he didn't even visit AMC's studio. Just a recorded message? Wow.

I'm sure when GH goes, OTOH, it will be some sort of livestreamed Viking funeral with him presiding on the set, helping to pass out gourds of spiked Monavie and mumbling incoherently into a live microphone a la Jim Jones, bemoaning the demise of "the one soap that truly was ready for the future."

Oh, and just before I forget again, yes, [!@#$%^&*] Steve Burton. I saw his tweet. What an !@#$%^&*].

Okay, one more thing - on her hotline yesterday, Robin Strasser wanted to go on E! to "confront" Chelsea Handler. I suggest instead that most of the OLTL cast get liquored up and go on Chelsea Lately together near the end. I actually like her a lot and that would be a good time.

Jori Peterson says Frons did personally go to the AMC set to deliver the news.

But, then again, you can't trust anything she says.

They found out on text message and through phone calls from reporters.

Despite what ABC claims were their best efforts to tell the cast and crew of “All My Children” and “One Life to Live,” some of the actors and crew of the two canceled soap operas say they felt blindsided by the cancellation of the long running daytime dramas on Thursday.

“If you weren’t there for the morning meeting, you found out through a third party,” one cast member of “All My Children” told FOX411. Several members of the cast were called at 10am for a meeting announcing the cancellation, but were told so late they couldn't get there in time. Network execs claim a program-wide message was sent to the staff of both shows earlier in the week telling them a big announcement was coming on Thursday at 11 am Pacific time.

“Brian Frons, the president of daytime, went physically in person to that set to tell the cast the news and had it set up as a video link to ‘One Life to Live’ in New York and he personally informed the cast and crew,” said ABC spokeswoman Jori Petersen. “We took great effort to tell the cast crew and production staff.”

Still, being fired over video simulcast feels a little like being broken up with over text message, and no one was happy.

Wow..

And I plan to. Habit and loyalty had me watching these shows. That's gone now, so I'll stick to cable and DVD's. ABC will not get those two hours back from me for "lifestyle shows" under any circumstances.
