NBC is more than just one channel. They are part of Comcast now, which has a whole line up of stations (like E! and Versus). Imagine an AMC or OLTL on E!, OMH...

Well you know how much the Kardashians love OLTL.

Speaking of AW, I hope neither OLTL or AMC gets such an embarrassing finale. Gorilla wedding? Really?!?

That only thing that saved that finale was the last scene with Rachel...

EoN got a clever finale I thought. The show ends but the story goes on with the classic theme setting the mood

My favourite last scene ever on a soap is the Ryan's Hope one with Maeve singing Danny Boy. I can't think of a better and more fitting end for that show.

From beginning to end, EDGE OF NIGHT was just too good to die.

well, lets be honest. The last year or three it sort of got away from its identity. Out went the murder mysteries and in came couple-itis like Preacher and Jody or Schuy and Raven. I think the last true murder mystery they did was the murder of Nicole (and was that a shocker coming on the heels of the solving of the murder of Nora Fulton!), but then it became more of a normal soap.

That's probably true, although I feel there still was a "criminal element," if you will, to much of the drama. Nevertheless, I look at EON as almost our answer to UK soaps like "EastEnders" or "Coronation Street": it centered mostly around an urban locale w/ characters from all walks of life; it had a premise that could adapt with the changing times; and had it not been for the inability of a certain network to get more affiliate clearances at the 4 pm hour, it might still be on the air today, even as other soaps are fading.

Larry Haines and Mary Stuart's emotions in SFT's final scene were just so overwhelming. I have to wonder how much of the final scene was actually scripted, and how much of it was just "Jo" and "Stu" saying goodbye.
