Members quartermainefan
I think after 135 pages a little thread drift is to be expected. I got to Labine from Langley. You think of the 80s and you think of characters like Langley, Opal, Phoebe, and Tina Lord and time travel and Eterna. The shows were popular. Then the 90s came all the ABC soaps changed--and changed in the exact same way. Today, people post this was a change for the best because the shows "grew up" (and I have seen words to that effect over and over again on this very site) but that always struck me as this elitist mentality that unless it adheres to one rigid view it is childish. You can take all the Marty Saybrooks you want, and they still won't equal one Tina Lord imo. Just the articles and essays in all the sites and blogs alone tell the tale about what people remember and it isn't BJ's heart, Dorian and Niki 1995 or Bianca's bulimia. Members Kylie
Damn, I didn't even call. LMFAO I just thought it was interesting, and people are taking it as a sign. I'ma not be the messenger anymore. I learned my lesson after the Josh debacle. So no letters, emails or calls will come from me. But I appreciate the efforts of others. Members Khan
Unfortunately, none of those positions will involve Brian Frons. :-(
Guest dc cubs
I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet but here is the Daytime Confidential podcast with Michael Logan on the cancellations. http://daytimeconfidential.zap2it.com/2011/04/19/dc-618-tv-guides-michael-logan-talks-amc-and-oltl-cancellation
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Good thing about daytime dying? It makes Daytime Confidential irrelevant. Who actually gives a sh!t about their pop culture coverage anyway?
Members marceline
Plus I'm willing to bet that even though you won't see their spots on ABC Daytime, they'll still appear during the news and on ABC Family AND at a lower price than Hoover would've paid for the same spots a week ago. Members dragonflies
JimRomanovich Jim Just finishing my blog on ABC cancellations. It's a good one. Fortunately, I'm not looking to get hired so I don't give a [!@#$%^&*].
Members Eric83
Wow. Soapnet's not ending and it may not for years? Wonder if they'll show some AMC/OLTL reruns then.
Members Clear Drama
Ding Ding Ding Ding! and that's the domino effect Brian Frons created. B/c there are smart ass sponsors who will do it just to get free publicity and look like roses to the public. Essentially Frons/Sweeney are costing ABC $$$. Members Clear Drama
This is becoming a joke now. Srsly, I guarantee you someone is pulling out thier ad. They realize, hey per day we have what 1-1.9 viewers, we can get more just by creating a media storm.
Members Adam
I hope they do, but it won't do me any good as Soapnet never was granted a broadcast license in Canada. I don't know if they ever applied for one though.
Members marceline
And I have no doubt he's going to take it out on the shows. At this rate, OLTL will be taping in a parking garage for its final months with homeless guys working the lights and microphones in exchange for food and weed. And with every tweet from Strasser or Hickland or "statement" from JPL or FF, even the weed budget gets smaller. It'll make Peapack look like an MGM musical.
