Members LoyaltoAMC
The View's not going anywhere. That show is the model for the future persona of ABC Daytime.
Members Adam
Thank you for saying that, and thank you for posting period! I have been waiting to see you chime in! Good to hear from you! Both of these shows have died, time to put the rivalry to rest.
Members OLTL_fan
You really can't compare ratings from 5 years ago to now. Networks have lowered their standards since then. Go look at the ratings Desperate Housewives was pulling 5 years ago to now. ABC now wants cheaper programming and is hoping these new shows pull the same ratings as the soaps. Even if they do slightly worse, its still a win. Its all a risk ABC is willing to take.
Webmaster Errol Posted April 18, 2011 Webmaster Share Posted April 18, 2011 "ABC is the new destination for daytime viewers to transform all areas of their lives, from relationships to family, food, style, home design, finance and more - The View, The Chew, The Revolution and General Hospital. Weekdays on ABC." Got to love it!
Members Soapsuds
GH now looks so out of place on that list. Moreso than Days looks on NBC.
Members Adam
General Hospital should just be renamed "The Mob".... it would fit into this "The" thing they are going for.
Members Kubla Khan
Primetime television is still hugely profitable and the programs can still sustain themselves. Daytime soap operas? Not so much.
Members Jonathan
General Hospital good morph into a talk show hosted by Doctors.

Members Kubla Khan
And while I'm saddened that both AMC and OLTL are going off the air, I'm not surprised one bit. The only thing I'm angry with regarding this whole situation is how insensitive & blase Brian Frons has been about everything. That and THE CHEW is one of the most ridiculous names for a television show I've ever heard. If you needed to replace your soaps with a cooking/lifestyle show, couldn't you have come up with something at least a quarter decent? Jesus Christ! Webmaster Errol Posted April 18, 2011 Webmaster Share Posted April 18, 2011 Did producers of the two canceled soaps have more than five minutes worth of advance notice of the cancellations of their shows? If you believe in the tooth fairy, then yes.
Members You're Soaking in it
So now it's official, huh? Even when they were WWF back in the 80's, they were essentially a soap opera that had its storyline turning-points resting on the matches. The Macho Man Randy Savage / Miss Elizabeth / Hulk Hogan "love triangle" comes to mind...
Webmaster Errol Posted April 18, 2011 Webmaster Share Posted April 18, 2011 If I'm not mistaken, WWE issued a press release on Wednesday stating they were removing the terms wrestling, sports entertainment, etc from their company profile.
Members ~bl~
Errol my goodness. That stinks for the producers. Too bad they can't do anything about it...liars who lie lie.
