AMC and OLTL Canceled!

Maybe that is what the "bombshell" refers to in the Daytime Confidential podcast with Michael Logan. ABC seems done with soaps so it wouldn't be surprising if GH goes in September of 2012.

I don't know about this. Frons seemed pretty adament that GH was safe for now. He'd look like a tool for going back on that. There'd be some PR fallout. And what show would they have lined up to replace it. This all sounds very suspect, though lord knows every other rumor the past month turned out to be true, so who knows anymore. That would really be something else.

Jamey Giddens tweeted that the podcast was taped this afternoon. However, it hasn't been uploaded to the DC site yet. It will probably be up by end of day tomorrow.

If we're speaking strictly from a ratings standpoint,I don't think any of the soaps can make a good case for staying on the air. Ratings are terrible from top to bottom. Some are just less awful than others. If you have a GPA of 0.5 and improve to 0.8 the next year, you're still screwed.

Yes, the GH fans will really go for it. How I feel is TPTB will get theirs too...just a matter of time. That isn't a sense of being mean, but if television has been replaced with some other new technology, like if the Netflix experiment works, the networks as we knew them will be dead.

And with all the unexpected fallout from the AMC & OLTL cancellations, would they really cancel their last remaining soap right on the heels of those cancellations. Like I said, that would be a PR nightmare. Frons would really need to join a witness protection program, like he joked about in one of his interviews. It would be a stunning turn of events if it were true.

    • It is a shame that more characters didn't go the ATWT-Barbara route and make the ingénue into an antagonist.  It is a credit to ATWT's creativity that breathed life in that character for years after she was fighting off bulls in Spain.  But, a character like Liza can only have so many true loves and high jinks on the high seas.  They need another reason to be in the story. Liza's wealth, as well as her acumen to see through fraud, was fertile ground for tons of stories.  But, I feel like the business stories for Liza were always about her being easily overwhelmed, rather than exploring things like her leadership and managerial skills.
    • STFU!! Dante!!! This nonsense of blaming Gio is just ridiculous! Alexis and Lucky are becoming so unlikable. Why are the writers writing these characters so poorly?
    • Keith still comes off younger to me. I thought he wasn't that bad for his first day.
    • To be fair, they were only recently step-siblings.  Their parents married within the past few years.  And, Draper's father Ansel was not coy about the fact that he married Raven's mother, Nadine, for the money. And, Raven's sort of sticking it to April that not only can she have a baby (April has a heart condition that makes it difficult for her to carry a child to term), she could also have April's man, if she wanted him.
    • Keith D Robinson is 49. Maurice Johnson is 46.
    • I hope they give him more to do than just be a prick as you say. I can see how viewers would like him because the actor is so charming despite the character being such an absolute pain.    I would agree. And there was also the undercurrent of Raven and Draper sort of flirting with each other. The actors play that attraction and it worked so well in that scene.
    • Daniel Cosgrove is PERFECT as the sleezy politician. This might be my favorite role of his. All of these people keeping Kristina’s secret is so annoying. I really want her to pay.
    • What did happen to Beth between 86 and 89? Did she have amnesia?
    • I actually thought he came off as younger. It's so hard to buy Martin as Nicole and Ted's son unless they had him when they were 12.
    • @chrisml Isn't remarkable that, on a soap whose brand is built on twists and mysteries, that Raven's last straw was as simple as Logan saying that she was incapable of loving Jamey.  In the episode when Raven exit's and leaves Jamey with April, I can remember feeling the subtext that Raven is also trying to talk herself into leaving him behind.  There's so much in that little scene.  She's trying to stick it to Logan for saying she was a bad mother.  She's both granting April's wish, and damning her with the old adage of being careful what she wished for.  And, she's hinting to Draper that she's going to boff his father. It remains my favorite scene, and it still blows my mind that was not the end of that episode.
