Right? He could've been laughing at remembering something Jimmy Kimmel said during the upfront presentation. From what I've read about the presentations, it doesn't sound like anybody laughed at Jimmy Kimmel but you know what I mean. However this adds to the David and Goliath ethos.

Argh, I resent having to argue anything in Frons' favor. If I ever ended up near the guy, the cops would have to pull a full on Rodney King to pull me off him ("She won't stay down! Hit her again! HIT HER AGAIN!!") but there's got to be some perspective here.

You and me both. I'd have to wear his ass out, and Anne's too. I may think some fans have gone way overboard, but one thing I will not compromise is how terribly incompetent these two are when it comes to running a successful daytime lineup. And replacing soaps with cheaper shows is not running a successful lineup because, guess what, some day, those shows will cost more than what they bring in. Either by increased production costs or extremely bad ratings (my money's on the latter).

As for me and my house? We will blame Brian Frons. "I will blame Brian Frons. I will blame Brian Frons. I will blame Brian Frons 'til I diiiiie."

I laugh at some of these people hating Frons because so many of them have been watching in ignorant bliss while he drove these shows into the ground but NOW that they've seen the light they want to tell the rest of us how bad he is like it's news. It like when your cousin becomes a vegan because his new girlfriend is one, then comes to Thanksgiving and lectures everyone about evils of factory farming. Ummm...didn't you eat TWO plates of the deep fried turkey last year? With gravy?! Mmmm-hmmm.

LOL Exactly. I sort of cringed whenever the major news outlets started throwing Frons's name around. Of course, ANY shame that man gets is deserved by him and appreciated by me, but then the "OMG, I know who did this! A man named Brian Frons!" started, and it was just like...ugh. They don't know! They don't! It reminds ME of when 9/11 happened and our teacher told us who bin Laden was, so 11-year-old me came home and told my parents, "It was some man named Bob Louden! He did it!"

I will gladly eat my words if he says different, but I would not be a-tall surprised if he was the first to pop up on The Chewvolution. You know he fancies himself a host, he probably wants in on The Frons's next pilot. I think CM would rather be a host than an actor anyway, my guess is that he would love to be doing what Mario Lopez is doing for example.

There were plenty of people railing against Frons before the shows got cancelled. They were just drowned out by assorted fandoms such as the ones seen on Facebook, Soap Central, or the old ABC message boards. It's awful how fractured things have gotten. For some, the state of a soap rests solely on how well their faves are being treated.

I remember saying on AMC's FB page once after a particularly bad ratings showing that they needed to turn things around fast or else suffer the same fate as ATWT and GL. Do you know how many people jumped in to say some variation of "This show ain't going nowhere!" "They'll never cancel AMC!" and "Wheres ZAAAAAAAACCCCKKK????!!!!" (To be fair, that last one was pretty constant no matter what the subject was.) There was no acknowledgement of reality. Even after three canceled soaps in as many years, people just thought things would stay the same forever.

The only way to voice protest is to do what people have been doing for years which is turning off the TV. Sadly no one in charge anywhere and thats ABC,NBC, CBS cared enough to improve. THere needed to be someone in charge somewhere who gave a da*n.

A very important point that is often lost sight of. Some of us confuse apathy with mismanagement. Those pilots didn't happen overnight. They were making moves in the directions they wanted to take with less and less and ultimately no interest in how to save soaps by creative nor financial means.

    • Thanks @Paul Raven . I love that she even drew up a petition. A shame she didn't get to finish out that storyline, although it seemed to become a mess anyway.
    • It's funny to think one of the only later mentions of Justin/Sarah was in The Guiding Plight. They had some decent chemistry in the 1976 episode put out on DVD.
    • Very. They're building up his story again and picking the perfect time to do so. As the SilkPress storyline climaxes and go off in several great directions, they are building up that story to take a turn.

    • @Soapsuds Thanks for posting Night by night Mon 8pm The Rookies edged Gunsmoke but attracted younger(more desirable) viewers.NBC failed with Born Free/Smothers Brothers (how many different series did those 2 get??) 9-11pm  Maude/Rhoda/Medical Center dominated on CBS,but Football and Movies were competitive on an occasional basis. ABC tried  SWAT/Caribe later in the season and the former worked for them. Tues 8-11 pm CBS all the way Good Times, MASH, Hawaii Five O,Barnaby Jones. NBC had the fading Adam 12,Movie and Police Story mmm...don't see that listed? ABC Happy Days, which ABC decided to keep despite lackluster ratings, the Movie of the Week and Marcus Welby-once pulling big numbers but no longer. 8pm NBC had a new hit with Little House, easily beating Sons and Daughters, which was axed and replaced with Tony Orlando, which did much better. ABC had That's My Mama and the Wed movie. 9pm Cannon was the lead here as Lucas Tanner failed to capitalize on the LHOTP leadin. ABC continued the movie. 10pm Manhunter started strong for CBS but petered out and was cancelled. Petrocelli manged to beat Get Christie Love, which was replaced by Baretta-no ratings winner but ABC decided to renew. Thurs Another CBS night with The Waltons and a movie. ABC counterprogrammed with Odd Couple/Paper Moon then Barney Miller/Karen NBC did even worse with Sierra and replaced it with Mac Davis which improved ratings quite a bit. However, it was moved to 9pm for Sunshine/Bob Crane 9pm Some good numbers for ABC with Streets of San Francisco fending off Ironside,Archer and Mac Davis. 10pm Harry O had a slim victory over Movin On Fri 8-11 NBCs best night Sanford/Chico/Rockford/Police Woman. 8pm CBS had high hopes for Planet of the Apes but it bombed. Replacement Khan did even worse. Paul Sand and We'll Get By were tossed in at the end of the season. With poor lead ins the Friday movie didn't deliver. ABC's odd line up saw Kodiak flop, Six Million dollar Man struggle and Texas Wheelers  quickly cancelled. Kung Fu was brought in @8 and Six Million moved to 9. Then Kolchak took over at 8 and Hot*l Baltimore/Odd Couple 9-10. Despite controversy Hot*l flopped. 10pm ABC tried Kolchak then Baretta and finally Get Christie Love Sat CBS lead  with #1 AITF then Paul Sand/MTM/Bob Newhart/Carol Burnett. Paul Sand lost too much of the lead in so CBS spun off The Jeffersons and it was a smash. NBC did OK with Emergency (which beat Paul Sand on occasion, thus hastening that show's demise) and a movie. ABC was a disaster with New Land/Kung Fu and Nakia all failing. They introduced a movie @9 and moved Kung Fu to 8. Sun  NBC  with Disney and Mystery Movie (Columbo McCloud, MacMillan and Wife/Amy Prentiss)did well. ABC flopped with Sonny Bono and recovered by moving Six Million Dollar Man from Fri as a lead in to the movie. CBS hoped Apples Way would be another Waltons but no, so Cher did what Sonny couldn't. Kojak and Mannix successfully finished out the night. Two other shows on the ratings list were Adams of Eagle Lake starring Andy Griffith. Only 2 episodes aired and did well, so I'm not sure what happened there. As for The Law it was a series follow up to a 2 and a half hour NBC special movie .

    • Trust is very easily lost and very hard to re-build.
    • Oh, I know it was. I was just talking about how it's not giving me parallels to Caroline dying. It's really as far from it as possible.  But about the foreshadowing - Hahahhahah. Yes. And you missed one - Liam googling - "what is cancer"...
