AMC and OLTL Canceled!

OLTL should've been nominated and should've won. The gang rape story and subsequent trial were some of the most riveting TV I'd ever seen at the time. And the show wasn't even nominated.

Me too Carolyn- I was shocked that year when the show did not get a nomination. That fall in my junior year of high school EVERYONE- including guys- were talking about the rape trial. And the show hit #3 for a month, which it had not seen in 4 years..

And I agree with your mention of 1985 as a year OLTL deserved an emmy for Best Show- That 1985-87 period is one of OLTL's finest.

Where did you here this RSW/Depaiva emmy boycott rumor?? That is TERRIBLE. And I know Clint Ritchie/Phil Carey/James DePaiva all loathed Gottlieb..

Larry appeared in a fairly substantial guest role during Viki's heart transplant story in 2004, as her doctor and friend. That was the last time he was seen.

Right! Thanks, I was thrilled to see him back.

Okay, so what do you guys think about one last crossover? Not a crossover storyline obviously but like a short really good "What If?" Valentine to the fans with say Erica and Viki or Dorian? Erica and Viki bumping into one another having a brief convo and wishing one another well... one of those really warm gifts to the audience-type scenes like when Erica got the 19 bouquets of roses ("19's always been my lucky number. "). With Erica and Dorian maybe a bitchy little exchange at the cosmetics counter or something.

I say it's too much to ask for, but of course I'd love it!

I kind of think that would be a nice gesture. I miss the days where both shows were more intertwined. As much as the babyswitch storyline was maligned, by fans of both shows, I really enjoyed that aspect of it. Remember Dorian and Adam and Mary?

How I miss Mary. I do agree of course--I always loved that from the start Agnes had her soaps exist in the same world (and of course to a lesser extent GH too though I've never been a big watcher--but I suppose the first crossover was actually Steve Hardy at OLTL in 1969--and I did like Anna on AMC even if I had no idea at the time about the backstory with her character, though I *hate* the Skye finished off there). Even in that 1970s episode on Agnes' site I find the brief little OLTL character visit, despite having no background with, I think it is, Anna, thrilling.

A little birdie told me there will be a sequel to All Her Children written by another author.

While I don't have a ton of love for what Rauch did to the show, I can admit that under Peggy O'Shea it was largely camp, but it was well done camp (the show crumbled IMHO after she left--always wondered why she did, I assumed she retired but I saw she was on the writing team for a soap a few years later briefly).

And I did always wonder why OLTL got no best show emmys under Gottlieb--those actors were really so mad they didn't want their own show to get recognized? I know the Bukes and more so Max were featured less under Gottlieb than they had been under Rauch, but I wouldn't say they were ignored or given truly awful material.

Quit tormenting me :crying:

I do wish we could get an updated Family Scrapbook for both shows or some other sort of retrospective but I won't hold my breath. Yeah there's a lot in the past decade people would rather not remember, LOL, but it'd be nice to have something covering the complete shows. (As well as some sort of juicy tell all but that I have no hope for... Except maybe if Robin Strasser continues to be upset...)

A lot of the men on the show at the time had problems with Gottlieb. Slezak is the only woman I know of that didn't particularly like her.

That said, I've heard that Gottlieb wasn't the easiest person to get along with, and her personality didn't seem to match well with the press at that time at all. I recall her comment about giving Vicki an orgasm...

It was Eileen from OLTL who appeared in that AMC episode.

Didn't Jim Craig appear on AMC in the first year or so, too? And I remember reading something about Sadie appearing to sing at someone's wedding or funeral.

LOL! It is true that I've heard she rubbed many the wrong way in person-although you don't quite hear the nightmare stories of sudden cast firings etc that you did under Rauch and JFP.

Yes, I think Jim did some medical consulting--and I remember hearing about Sadie singing too but not where.

And of course Dr Marcus Polk too (didn't they also share Dr Claytor for a while or another side character)

(And I have to say I finally read Nelson's column and while I still think he's an idiot, I think he's surprisingly pretty spot on with the questions for Frons--that we'll never get answers to).

LOL, whaaa? "Oh! Oh Sloan! I've awlmost arrived! Join me there! Get ahhfter it! Make it your tahsk! OHHHHHHH!"

From Robin's description, Linda sounds like a real-life Dorian Lord from her impeccable duplex to her array of furs. She did go on to work with ABC doing PR or consulting, something like that. Her office was (is?) in the ABC building and she was behind SoapLine during O.J.

SOD has a poll asking which couple do you most want to see happy together by the end of AMC. The choices are

Jesse and Angie (my choice)

Jack and Erica

Ryan and Greenlee

Tad and Cara

Jake and Amanda
