GH - Ingo On GH Status: "I'm Not Holding My Breath"

Is he in or is he out? That's the question GENERAL HOSPITAL viewers are wondering about yet another fan favorite, Ingo Rademacher (Jax), whose alter ego is being seen less and less in Port Charles these days. "I'm not on recurring. I'm a contract player," he exclusively tells Soaps In Depth about his status with the soap. "If I was recurring, I would certainly say so if that was the case. There's nothing to hide there. I cannot talk intelligently about where they're going with my character because, if I'm there to stay or not, I really don't know."

The actor is painfully aware of the fact that Jax has been strangely M.I.A., even as his baby daughter fights for her life after a kidney transplant. "Where were my scenes with Elizabeth?" he wonders. "When we had the surrogate storyline [where Liz carried Jax and Courtney's child], we had great scenes together. Her baby died; his lived. They should have had a scene." While published reports indicate that GH has a big umbrella tale in the works that includes Jax and Brenda, Rademacher remains skeptical. "I'm not holding my breath about this next storyline that I, apparently, have coming up in a little bit. I haven't worked a frontburner storyline since last August, I think it was. To be honest, I'm just doing my thing up there right now. If I don't work more, then the writing is on the wall."

He sees the writing on the wall. He's on contract now but it seems as if he expectsw for them to drop him next. The big talk of some umbrella storyline involving him probably seems like BS to reassure him and shut fans up. He also made a good point about Jax and Liz losing a child together, which would have been a great way to connect them in their current storyline but both characters have taken a back seat. Such a shame

I will be very sad if Ingo goes, but good for him for speaking out and being honest. I still think it was very short sighted of GH to let Tyler go.

I don't think they had a lot of choice. The budget was cut and they had to let some people go. They tried with Becky, but there was a fan revolt. Cuts had to come from somewhere. It does suck, but I see it as a second round of vet cutting. Becky, Tyler and Ingo are all in that 15 year range. One of them probably costs more than 5 Shawns. I'm expecting GH to be infiltrated by more cheap newbies as the summer goes on.

That's what happened to DOOL back in 2006 or so. It sucked and was culture shock, but the show moved on.

Ingo must be pretty certain that he is out to be talking this way. Guza and JFP won't be happy about Ingo's public skepticism about his supposed upcoming story.

I agree. Honesty is great, but I don't think it's rewarded in showbiz very often. Certainly not when you are contradicting your boss. Ingo must feel he doesn't have a lot to lose and might as well try to garner fan support before he's officially out. I can't see ABC caving to fan demand again so soon. Not if an official announcement is made. If I were a huge Jax fan (I used to be) I would be be trying to pimp a Liz/Jax pairing right now. That might just be what both characters need.

I admire his honesty and the fact that he isn't kissing any asses. They'd never do a Liz-Jax romance. They're both supporting characters in other stories and I don't think anyone at ABC or GH sees them as anything more than that.

Ingo KNOWS he is going to be fired this summer when they write Brenda out.

I love that he mentioned Jax/Liz. The scene where they planted the tree was so nice.

I actually really liked them-

It would have been interesting if Jax was there for Liz and thankful she let his organs be donated, and they two connected and bonded causing a issue between Jax/Carly.

If Liz and Jax were paired, they would be like Alexis and Mac, trotted out once in a blue moon. GH seems done with both characters.

2009.

No, I was thinking more of 2006/2007 when Bonnie, Mimi, Patrick, Tek, Lexie, Tony, John, Jack and Jennifer all left in a matter of months and the entire show was gutted. Shawn and Belle carried the show at Tinda Lau while Sami manned Salem with Celeste. Everybody else was basically gone other than newbies like Nick, the Touch The Sky crowd, newbie EJ.

This is true but on screen it didnt feel like that big of a shift but then again it didnt feel like a big shift when John, Marlena, Patch, Kayla, Tony all left either, so... But the production changes were noticeable the second time around.

Also, the Sami/Celeste stuff was awesome, i had forgot all about it.

Marlena and John's absence was glaring, but 2009 was easier for me to digest because it was just a matter of swapping old Salem reliables. Out went Patch and Kayla, in came Victor and Maggie. That was a lot different than watching day after day of that old crank on Tinda Lau and the army of newbies Max, Stefanie, Chelsea, Jeremy, Jett and a barrel of prostitutes and drug dealers.

I actually really like his honesty. I think he's at the point now where if he stays that's great, and if not oh well.
