That's the nature of the beast of message boards though. One poster says one thing, another poster replies to it, another poster answers their question, etc.... Threads are going to get off topic, and half the time, the off topic posts are the most interesting ones. I mean, how many times has the name of a thread changed because it got off topic? (Stylish Magnetic Businesswomen of Soaps anyone?)

But back on topic. I can't believe Y&R hit 5,000,000+ viewers on a non-holiday. For the life of me, I cannot understand who is hooked on that crap and why. It's a chore for me to watch it on my DVR days after the fact- and most the time, I'm only watching to see if the off the wall sh!t being said in the Y&R thread is actually what's happening onscreen.

The other half is for Jess Walton, Sharon Case, Maura West, and the hope of some Nick/Diane lovin.

That was me! I ruined that thread!! I asked Angela to rename it and she kindly did so. The title was my idea and I know – it's awful!! SFK had a better one, I must dig it out.

I know it was confusing to read (not being sarcastic- it really was), but re-read my post. The ratings are only delayed if the holiday falls during the week they are coming out, like if MLK Day was the 24th, the week of Jan 17-21 ratings would be delayed. That's not the case here.

Figures the delay was about the snow. Thanks Errol! :)

On a bright note for the week, I'm thrilled that the AMC repeat kicked the crap out of both the OLTL and GH eps. Ah, the power of Marcy! :D

I think someone is confued and it s not me. Here is the schedule for holidays in 2011, amnd by the way, my cousin works for the US Postal service and he was off on the 17th.

Friday, December 31, 2010* New Year’s Day

Monday, January 17 Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Monday, February 21** Washington’s Birthday

Monday, May 30 Memorial Day

Monday, July 4 Independence Day

Monday, September 5 Labor Day

Monday, October 10 Columbus Day

Friday, November 11 Veterans Day

Thursday, November 24 Thanksgiving Day

Monday, December 26*** Christmas Day

 Yes, it is you that is confused and continue to be. I'm well aware of what day/date MLK Day fell on. But you're still not understanding which week's ratings that holiday causes a delay for, so let's try this again, shall we?

MLK Day is Monday, January 17th, causing a delay THAT week for the release of the prior week's (Jan 10-14) ratings. Instead of them coming out on Thursday, January 20th, they were DELAYED until Friday, January 21st.

Monday, January 24th was NOT a holiday, so the ratings that come out during that week (which is the ratings for the week of January 17th-21st) normally would come out on schedule.

Are you getting it yet?

Perhaps a ratings holiday is in order this week. No numbers, no thread. Just a chance for everyone to take a breath, refocus and embrace the quiet emptiness.

I love how Liz fans on other boards are making a big deal about a loss of 172,000 for GH. They already say they cant to see the ratings go down in March when she leaves but by March the weather should be better and the ratings will go back to normal.

What is this, elementary school? No RECESS next week?

No, quite the opposite. A chance to let the drama die down before sweeps. They're ratings not clean, drinking water. One week won't kill anyone.

Sigh. It made for an interesting read/debate. I'll never understand why you guys go back & delete posts, especially ones that are for the mostpart harmless. I don't know about everyone else's computer, but I have a little bar with arrows on the right of my screen. If I don't feel like reading something, I just click on those and magically, I don't have to. Not a censorship fan, thought we'd moved past the days of deleting harmless posts, or deleting much of anything. I mean, nothing that was said in those posts violated board rules, so why go through the thread and delete them? It's deleting for the sake of deleting, censoring for the sake of censoring. Which, IMO, is pointless and is moderation for the sake of moderation (repeating myself now lol).

Banning the word though? Seriously? So there's going to be a discussion about whether or not the posters here should be able to discuss irony on soaps? I just......I don't know. Aren't there better things that could be done with your days? Or larger issues of the world, even on this board, that could be worried about? Don't want to get in trouble, and I bite my tongue a lot around here for that reason, but all of it just rubs me the wrong way and something's got to give.

The moderating/admin team was not always like this here. It didn't used to be this way. There was a time where I would have no fear making a post like this, and if it disappeared or something to the like, I could PM a mod/admin and they'd fix it or put the post back up. This odd dictatorship, of picking & choosing things that you all deem bothersome and deleting them or banning them or making a word read &*#$%....

I don't know. It just makes me sad.

There. I said my peace, though it probably won't last on here long and I'm probably gonna hear it for this. But it had to be said.

Some are not harmless...just pure bullying. The moderating use to be top notch but now it is very lax..and sometimes doesnt exist. Some have gotten away with a lot..just sayin.

Pretty sure Angela was just joking about banning the word 'irony'. We only do that for on-going annoyances like um...Kobe Beef. LOL Anyway, let's get back to ratings discussion. Any problems or issues should be PM'd to the Admins. Thanks!

Sorry for getting off topic but I had to vent.

Going off topic is one thing but targeting posters..being a bully.....being vicious and cruel is another thing. And that is what is happening at SON. Shame on you juniorz for going with the flow.

That sounds like a good idea. Or they can be posted on a thread and then have that thread locked/closed and viewed only without discussion.
