They were always going at it even if it was just fantasies.  Jen/Peter and Carrie/Austin were really hot too.

Lol.  Well that's a way to make money I guess.  I loved that Austin and Sami had to get married to get him back.  Apparently the French government has jurisdiction over American babies that were kidnapped?

And fun fact, if people didn't know, the person heading Screen Gems' effort to get Days on TV was actor Jackie Cooper (Perry White in the Superman films). He took a break from acting from 1964-1969 to be a Screen Gems executive and he was responsible for finally selling "Days" to NBC in 1965!

Oh I remember Rebecca too.  She was so aggressive about getting John.  Going around asking Marlena inappropriate questions about how to land him lol!  Never taking no for an answer.  She just sorta disappeared.  But at the end of the day we do know that John Black and his mullet are irresistible to women

I think she was injured or something when someone (possibly Curtis Reed?) tried to harm Kristen but got her instead? And left town afterwards. By then John was already making googly eyes at Kristen so he didn't care very much lol.

Did he ever care that much lol?   John in the 90's was such a man whore, but one who just couldn't have Marlena so had to sleep with everyone else lol.  No, he was overall pretty loyal but they threw a lot of women at him including that awful women Danielle that played his fake wife/jewelry thief.

Just saw that B&B will start uploading from season 1 starting September 1st - they also have seasons 19-31 (2005-2018) uploaded on YouTube and it's available for all to view. Now, imagine if DAYS could open their vaults?

Variety May 79

Fred Silverman, presiding over NBC at the time announced changes to the daytime schedule in an attempt to arrest failing ratings.

His plan

10 - 11.30 Gameshows

11.30 - 12.30 The Doctors (expanded to 1 hr)

12.30 - 1pm New soap

1 - 2.30 Days (expanded to 90 min)

2.30 - 4 AW

Silverman noted this could be up and running by early 1980.

Can you imagine a 90 min Days with a new soap as lead-in??

Yikes, I guess Another World's 90 minute experiment thankfully put the idea of DAYS going to 90 mins to rest. The show was already going through creative issues at the time, so I can't imagine how disasterous a 90 minute show would've been.

I guess The Doctors absolutely crashing in 1980 put any plans on expanding it to rest.

I forgot about Danielle, I remember she was one of the first attempts the show throw at John to give him a backstory. Didn’t she first show in or around the time “One Stormy Night” aired? Lol it was torture for months there.  I don’t think the show knew what to do with John and Roman at all at the time following the end of the Tale or Two Romans story.

That line up would’ve been insane, 90 minutes would’ve been a disaster. The Doctors was already ailing by this point too whatever that new soap was planned to be (Texas already ?) would have been DOA plus resistance from NBC affiliates probably would never follow this schedule.

No wonder why SNL called Fred Silverman a lame-o around this time. How did he think that daily 90 minute soaps were the key to raising the ratings?

I wonder how Ann Marcus or Elizabeth Harrower would have handled writing a 90 minute episode of Days.

    • Not mad at Leslie Locking Eva out, I think it's important for the audience to see her on her own for a while. Curious how scrappy and savvy on her own. Yeah, I am with you there. It feels a bit hollow; maybe if she was talking to Martin and Kat I would feel better about it. There must be more to this story. Daphnee and Ambry owned this episode. Tugging my heart in every scene. Nicole process hurt and anger much differently than Dani though.
    • I also really enjoyed Eva's scenes with Kat today. They have an interesting chemistry. I thought it really did feel a bit like sisters at conflict. Especially with the way that Eva was trying to convince Kat to forgive Ted and them both coming to the conclusion that the man they thought was their father was different wasn't who they really thought he was initially. And the way that Eva broke down when Kat said that she was dead to her was emotional stuff. I really do think that in spite of their conflict/bickering Eva really would have loved to have gained a sister, along with a brother, father, etc... Also, I thought it was interesting how Eva kept saying that she loves Ted and Nicole. That and Leslie mentioning that Kat/Eva are almost twins really does make me wonder if Kat may really be her twin and Nicole's as well. I would gladly welcome that outcome, even if it takes a while for it to come out. At this point Leslie doesn't deserve Eva as a daughter as far as I'm concerned. And I would forward to a storyline where we found out that she's Nicole's second baby girl, and all the complex and ultimately happy feelings that would bring Nicole. Eva/Kat could still have a rivalry, especially if Nicole ended up doing some more bonding with Eva. And then we could get the rest of the family's reaction to that as well.

What you NOT gonna do to me!
    • Bravo to every single person responsible for today's episode. From the writer on down to Kraft services. Yall I'm getting emotional but I wish my granny was here to have seen this soap since she was the one to introduce me to this medium.

    • Everything is fraught with confusion. Why is Leslie pleading with the Duprees to accept Eva? She's not biological family so what is this? She's the product of an affair with their in-law so Leslie wants them to accept her? I'm getting GOOD TIMES vibes of Leslie and Eva minus the physical abuse.
    • Big fan of today's writing. In particular, I like EJ complexity, crying over Johnny and conspiring at the same is tough to pull off in the same episode, but it goes very far in explaining EJ's motives. I don't hate the idea of Cat and EJ, and I especially appreciate everyone trying to warn her, but she is sticking to the plan. Boy oh boy, when Brandon Beemer wears a shirt that matches his eyes, I get lost in the screen!
    • Yeah, I think that Leslie's speech would have had a bit more of an impact if Ted had been the Dupree's son, with Nicole being the daughter in law they loved like a daughter. But being that he's the son in law, and that Eva (at least not right now) isn't technically a Dupree, it doesn't hold as much weight. They aren't caring much for Ted right now and their feelings could be trickling down to Eva. Though, I do think they have some sympathy for her. I really enjoyed today's show. Loved a stripped, down hurt but still strong in her resolve Nicole. DD continues to shine and shows why she is IMO the heart of the show. I felt her words, and anger at Ted and how she broke down in Kat's arms at the end. She is just wonderful all the way around. I also loved the way that Anita read Leslie. She was spot on about her and how mishandled everything with Ted and Eva. And speaking of Leslie... I immediately thought the same thing once I saw that scene. That what she exhibited was trash behavior. I don't think she's a good mother. In fact, I think she's lousy. Granted, I have missed some episodes, but I haven't really seen her do anything to indicate that she really cares for Eva or her well being. All she's really done is try and manipulate/use Eva for her own agenda since she came to town.
    • I thought Brandon C was much more believable as Martin today.  Before, I watched an actor trying to portray a character.  Friday and today, I simply felt the character.
